update freezing @dat.41

I've been trying to update today and everytime i've tried the update bar gets to 33% (41.dat to be specific) then locks up my entire system, but also slowly gets through the dat check, only to not download any updates going into a network error. is there any quick fix for this? or is it due to congestion? plz halp :(
