View Full Version : If you won't design new festival events, bring back the old?

I can understand there being some tedium with having to repeatedly design new festivals each year, so naturally some end up being more or less the same as in previous years (Doll Festival, Valentione's Day, and so on and so forth). Sometimes the events get updated (Adventurer's Appreciation), but I was wondering if the dev team has put in any consideration into reintegrating some of the past festival events into the current ones. There were a lot of items that were available in past events that aren't available anymore. But I'd like to do Azimuth's Circle, the original Blazing Buffaloes event, etc etc... I definitely liked that they brought back the Goblin Chocobo digging game from years ago and was wondering if there are any similar plans for events in the future?

Yay! Hi Avina~ /hurray for nostalgic moments~

I remember back during the first time I saw the Sakura Trees in San'doria. Was awesome :D. And also the halloween events were great too. Trick Staff for warp helped alot :D

I think part of what makes the events so special is that they aren't repeated. It gives a sense of the uniqueness of each event. When people look at their items, they're glad they participated when they did.

I want those Twinkling Treants back, so I can make photos and watch them in pankration!
Ok, they will still get wiped out against those [Damage Taken -99%] dark elementals casting Freeze and Thundaga II, but at least they will go out with style and glamour!

Twinkling Treant was the very first monster I have seen the day I started, I was so scared I ran into San d'Orian church seeking asylum ; ; lol. I really wish they could come back so I can finally do that event (back then I was too afraid and to noob to know what Xmas events were at all and so I didn't /sulk)!

Some of them maybe. The oldest ones that almost none of the current players got the chance to participate in would be nice.

I agree with this. It does separate people who have been around to gather these items from events past from the folks who are maybe newer, or missed the event. The uniqueness of an event is that you do not miss it. I am sure we can all name an event we would like to see again, but isn't it nice just having the memory too?

I agree with both sides of this argument. ><

Maybe bring back some of the events, but keep some of the items unique. There is something special about seeing an old event item you have in storage that might never be obtainable again...even if it isn't all that useful. Same event, different reward.

Not if you weren't even around to get the memory of it. Putting events on a 9-year cycle isn't exactly the same as making every event available for every person either.

-edit-
Selzak's idea is a good one. Same events, different (but perhaps similar) rewards to separate the real hardcore old timers from the rest.

I can live with that.
