You may have noticed more than one job posting to complain of being marginalized in end-game, specifically Abyssea. There have also been numerous posts complaing of things OTHER jobs can do in an effort to GET other jobs marginalized, but that's another story, for a different thread. This post is to make all 20 jobs relevant in Abyssea, or anywhere else with that stupid !! proc system.

My proposal is this, for ANY proc (blue, yellow or red !!) 1 of the possible triggers be made to be every single job's Nyzul weaponskill. So yes, even a full alliance may not be able to trigger yellow as an example, although you do cover 18/20 of all possible triggers with a full alliance.

Pros: a. soloing nms for seals almost dies, getting rid of the constant bitching about "make player X give up the mob, I've been made to wait for some time greater than 1 millisecond", b. jobs get invites because they are ALL useful, c. party-based gameplay is again de rigeuer as originally intended, d. Nyzul (and hopefully other pre-aby content) gets a much-needed spike in interest, e. low-man monopolizing NMs will give way to alliance spamming, f. all the "useless seals" that are only useless because noone will invite a ___job are useful

Cons: a. drop rates are low as it is for seals/empy pieces/everything except kindred crests so the rates need to be increased proportional to the size of the group fighting the NM, b. jobs that solo well now and haven't been marginalized will complain that you are ruining the game for them, c. because only 18/20 job-specific triggers can be coverred the game is "impossible" to complete, d. mobs won't live long enough to trigger those 18 WS plus the existing triggers (make NM HP scale proportional to the claiming group), e. feeding TP to mobs you don't WANT to be feeding TP to, f. people will need to actually do Nyzul and will be discriminated against if they haven't (they're discriminated against NOW-the criteria is just different).

I doubt this will happen, however it is the ONLY way I can see to get all 20 jobs opportunity to participate in what is currently end-game, as it's the only thing I can think of all 20 having a unique offensive ability at.

I expect this to be flamed extensively, but the marginalized jobs have been an issue almost since the inception of Abyssea and the use of the !! proc system. At least maybe this will move the discussion into a forum that actually sees 2-way communication between the playerbase and the development team.

If they don't have the weaponskills then they should get them their available to everyone, not only would it help all jobs participate it would make nyzul a relavent event if people actually wanted to get their gear from abyssea, and it wouldnt hurt procing at all we have dissernment abbysite available to us. I like this idea I hate being stuck on the same job all the time because its the only useful job according to the playerbase refering to whm blm blu mnk nin war.

Another thing they could do is reverse what yellow and blue weakness's affect as far as drops, making blue needed for emperian upgrades seals jewels etc. and make yellow proc drop the gear the monsters drop. This would definatly make all jobs more relevent, but it has its drawbacks with blue weakness's tied to time of day.

Making certain jobs required to proc is a terrible way of making a job "relevant" again. Make the jobs good instead.

No amount of updates to the system will ever stop the playerbase from having a favorite job and excluding others. Also, consider how few people with non-melee jobs even have their Nyzul weaponskills. Have you ever seen anyone actually use Vidohunir, Mordant Rime, or Omniscience?

I take it you didn't read the part where it said it got people to play some of the older content, like Nyzul?

Seriously, this just falls into the "Get off your dead ass and work for something" category. 4 level 90s can burn to Nyzul 100 in just over 3 weeks with no deaths and almost no effort, or you can get a friend (with your job) to just take you to 100 to get your weapon, although you'll want to do the climb anyways so you don't need 10,000 WS points to unlock. Added bonus, many of the Nyzul WS are actually among the better ones a job can do.

"good" is a subjective measure, based on player opinion and history has shown that regardless of what SE does to keep them relevant the players will take them in unanticipated directions, leading to a new group of Marginalized players. "Required" is based on a solid, unavoidable game mechanic, like Mordant Rime being 1 of 20 possible additional triggers for yellow, red and blue-so if you want to hit them you really might want to bring a bard... that works on his job.

I have mordant rime, I made a special point of getting it, and outside Aby it is my favorite WS on my bard in any nom mage subjob build. In my LS, all of the mages have taken the time to get their Nyzul WS as well, and we're just a social shell. They are easy to get, tend to be good WS, and the content along the way is actually fun, too.

And I'm tired of excusing other players from completing basic content because of laziness.
