just some feedback on boots for af in abyssea, ok now i know i'm not the only one that thinks SE dropped the ball on this, you made all armour obtainable via cruor, dominion notes or resistance credits yet the feet you made drop from a chest at some of the lowest percentages in the game ?. Come on ive had 20 hour partys with capped azure pearl and amber with slight ruby thrown in and got DRG,NIN thats it , like guys do you hate the players that much to not have boots ? ive had all my smn seals since 2 months after they released vunkerl abyssea and yet to this date i have all my items +1 accept for boots which i dont have. How about changing where we get them from like maybe fighting diff mobs have 30% chance of dropping, as i think 1% for thf 6% for smn is Really shafting us lol , i come from an 8 man shell with 2 duel boxers making up for 4 people so for me i can dream of feet but alas may never see . Let me know your thoughts people and thankyou for your time . P.S any hints on how to gets boots faster im all ears and open for suggestions . thankyou again for taking the time to read my thoughts , have a great day.

just some feedback on boots for af in Abyssea...
Okay now I know I'm not the only one that thinks SE dropped the ball on this. SE, you made all armor obtainable via cruor, dominion notes, or resistance credits, yet you made the feet drop from a chest, and not only that but at some of the lowest percentages in the game ? Come on! I've had 20-hour parties with capped azure, pearl, and amber (with slight ruby thrown in) and got DRG, NIN, and that's it! Guys, do you hate the players that much, to not have boots?
Two months after Abyssea-Vunkurl was released I got all my SMN seals, and I have all my +1 items, except for SMN boots. How about changing where we get feet from? Maybe fighting different mobs would give us a 30% chance of feet dropping -- as I think it's 1% for THF, 6% for SMN... it's really shafting us. I come from an eight-man shell with two dual-boxers making four of those, so it feels like I can dream of the feet, but may never see them.
Let me know your thoughts, everyone, and thank you for your time.
P.S any hints on how to gets boots faster? I'm all ears and open to suggestions. Thank you again for taking the time to read my thoughts, have a great day.

Highlighted your problem. Don't cap amber. That puts everything under the sun in the drop pool. Keeping it to mostly small chests cuts out almost all the KI drops--increasing the chance for feet to drop. This isn't conjecture, it's fact--and I've done it to farm over 2 dozen feet solo/low-man in two different zones on my NIN--5 feet for myself.
Edit:
This is by no means a definitive guide, but it is how I farmed my feet. It could have just been that my toon has a rabbits foot crammed up its butt, who knows...but it worked for me. By doing this, I would often get my first feet to drop within about 30-45 minutes of fighting.
Check with the resistance seargent before you even start the session. If they don't have the 06/07 cores, don't even bother unless you just want to waste your time and only get 1 or 2 feet before you may time out. This is VERY important--these two cores affect chest spawn rate and quality of drops. If you don't have these cores, then you are stuck at the floored ~5% rates on feet. Please, for the love of Pete--everyone read up on Bastion and participate in some cacpacity. Even if it is just to do a quick trap filling session each time you go into abyssea and again before you leave. These cores affect EVERYTHING in the zone--costs of conflux, how much your stats increase through cruor buff, and quality/rate of drops and rate of cruor and xp increase per kill...all of it is modded on the state of the pulse martello.
Now, for the fighting. You are going to need a clear demuline abyssite to farm Tier 1 VNM (easiest one to solo with--the Tier 2's can be a bit of a handful most the time). You will also need at least 8 Ephemeral kills if they are checking less than EM/T to you (most likely will at this point) if you want to build azure for some Time extensions. You will need to be able to get all three light kills if going for TE (Magic, elemental weapon skill kill, and plain melee kills)--otherwise, you just need amber/pearl (weaponskill kill and normal melee kill) if you want to just burn down your time. The target you are going to slaughter for chest pops needs to be chosen based on your light requirements. Some mobs won't give specific lights, some will get all lights. You can use this to your advantage in some cases--like, if you will potentially be killing with a lot of weaponskills, find a target that won't give ruby, but you may still want one that can give Asure, Amber, and Pearl in case you need to increase lights on the fly. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SYSTEM MESSAGE CHATTER ABOUT BASTION. If you see the 06/07 cores are lost, then you may need to adjust your lights a little. If you see they get more of them, then go on a pearl killing spree--your chances just improved to get your feet.
The process is simple. Kill ephemerals for the azure/amber light count target, VNM for the pearl. You will want at least 3 amber kills off ephimeral, and 5 azure if you want to build towards TE. You can go for more azure if you want (sometimes you will find easy access to Eph. mobs, may as well kill more to get lights faster...hehe). Then, shoot for at least 5 VNM's by pearl. Sometimes this isn't practical because of where they choose to pop--if they are being stubborn and popping in dangerous places, you can sometimes shoot yourself in th foot by wasting time trying to pull them safely. But, when you can snag 5 or 6 of these, it's a big plus. Grab as many as you can quickly up to 6 kills.
Now, provided you checked in advance and they have 06/07 cores in posession, you are set with about 15 amber, 25+ azure, and 25+ pearl within about 30 minutes. Lights aren't capped, but high enough to bump you to the higher tiers for better drop rates on what you need--more chests, more TE, more powerful items in smaller chests (without lots of KI clogging the pool). Now, just go to your final camp and start slaughtering mobs with pearl/azure kills. You will know pretty quick how your lights are by the spawn rates and quality of items in the chests. If the gold is not coming steadily, bump up the amber a little. If there is an ephemeral nearby, grab one and get an amber kill on it--otherwise, aim to kill 5 normal mobs with amber. It's best if you can keep amber in chunks of 5 that way to easily track them. Once you get to 25 worth counting this way (5 from eph., 1 per normal mob)--don't kill any more eph. with amber. If you feel you need a little more amber, just go for 4 on normal mobs so you stop at 29. Once you hit 30+ by this counting scheme--you may be too close (if nto IN) to the KI item and your drop pool may be a big mess and you may as well push it to 50+ at that point. Again, pay attention to the Bastion chatter in the system messages. If you had the 06/07 cores at start and lost them, then you will need more amber to get gold items--if you see they grabbed them, then you likely don't need to do anything else with amber.
Here is an example pattern I used in Misereaux: Warp to 08 (little mandies), kill eph., work your way north towards 00 killing all eph. you can quickly and safely pull without snagging other mobs to get the amber/azure kills. Warp from 00 to 05 (think that was it, up with the flies near flame skimmer NM). Head north to the bridge and kill the ephemerals up there. Can sometimes be 3 close by.
By this time, you will have likely killed 8 or 9 eph. Up in the flytraps is a common spot for the VNM to pop. Squat and see if it is up and kill them by pearl only (note, if you squat right away after you kill it, you sometimes catch it again just 10 yalms away from you). If not, it may be over with the bomb clusters (06 I think?) If not, I sometimes found one over in the east near the bunnies--forget the conflux number. But it usually popped in those two places. If you go after it in the bombs and catch aggro, try to kill the bombs with only azure/pearl to keep your amber on the x5 count setup so it is easier to track. Once you've killed 5 or 6 of the VNM's with pearl, should be good to go. Watch your system messages closely when you kill these VNM. If it upgrades you can and WILL get messages for the T2, sometimes even popping it right away. This thing can get downright nasty with the -ga's and rip you apart before you realize what you've done. Depending on your time and kill rate and such, you'll have to make the call on whether to go to 01 and dump the abyssite and get a new T1. The purpose is to get a nice big chunk of pearl fast--if you are close to capping out, might be better to just start slaughtering mobs for chests and worry about getting a new abyssite on the next session.
Once the lights are built decent, go start slaughtering something for chests. The target I used are the lower level crabs between the frogs near 00 and the higher level crabs near the bridge at 05. I liked being on the 05 side of the crabs best because the eph. that pops in them tends to wander closer to the 00 side of them, and there is a nice channel for fighting them. You can get just close enough to the crabs that some auto aggro steady enough to keep killing without actually pulling a lot of them-just take a couple steps forward and back as you are about to kill one and a new one is on it's way to you. Also, if you need some eph. kills, you have a handful nearby that are easy to pull real quick. I did this completely solo to get my DRK and BST feet. I also did it again with 2 friends to grab BST and BRD for one and RNG for another. Each time I had about an hour of time built up after I got the targetted feet and continued to kill crap to get feet for other LS mates to zone in and pick up (a couple more wanted RNG at the time).
Used a similar strategy in Vunkerl, used puks for the slaughter (again, easy to auto aggro, and both eph. and T1 VNM can pop nearby as well).

maybe someone needs to revise this as this is not how lights work now that we can rest and see the light capps at 255 for azure pearl and ruby i am presuming this to be about 1/3rd of that

method is still the same, now you're just seeing the actual numbers the game is tallying. The previous light values were never confirmed from SE, it was all conjecture. Now we can just see the exact values is all. That's why I still go by the number of mobs killed. The number of kills should still be consistent for the T1 VNM and the DC/EP Ephemerals--whether we were assuming 5 lights on a DC eph. or whatever we can see now when we squat, it should be the same number of kills on the same mobs now as it was before (unless SE adjusted the light values they give).
This process worked for me to solo/duo/trio and get at least one of every feet armor to drop in both Vunkerl and Misereaux except one--DRG (that dropped from another person that was soloing on funguar and I got an invite to lot them). The times I wasn't soloing, I built the amber off eph.'s and nabbed some pearl on VNM to boost that count while others did only azure/pearl kills on the crabs/pucks and nearby eph. mobs.
problem with that is not every one builds light at an even pace due to abyssite modifications, so might be better to find actual value cut offs.

5-10 points per eph. kill (up to EM), and chests can give 1 to 10 with the values we can actually see now (roughly what I've noticed, haven't really been tracking it much). By the old accounting method (5 per dc eph.), feet could drop as low as 15 points with cores in possession, 25 with no cores. Pretty simple math. If cores are up, grab 3 or 4 amber eph. kills--if no cores, get 4 and see how the chests are spawning. If you aren't getting a decent rate of gold, grab one more eph. kill and you should see them pop more often. After you do it for a while, you will get a feel for how many you need to kill with/without the cores in posession. But, in all honesty, you shouldn't be farming them without the cores up if you are really concerned about the drop rates.
The point is, to minimalize your amber to avoid all the big gold chests.

9 hours in vunkrel yesterday get azure capped perle 200+ for TE and exp leech friends if they want to park it or key while ur farming and i found between 50-100 was good for amber for feet we invited some people in to help them get free lights and time that were in area and they inadvertently opened a few amber on us abd brought us just over 130 mark which seemed to kill the feet totally so after a while we went and capped our amber for KI and got feet we needed at around 8 hour mark but after 200+ amber we noticed more frequent feet again and KI drops
I have tossed over 500 feet. Just sayin'.

That's weird. Usually SMN boots are the only ones dropping for me. But yeah it is annoying to obtain boots.

You answered your question in the same post that asked it.
Boots are still somewhat of an issue the drop rates on some of the especially the NIN boots are just horrible haven't seen 1 pair in about 30 hours.
