View Full Version : Specific spell macros for PUP: /automaton "cure VI" <t>
First off, if something similar has been discussed and I missed it, I'm sorry.
Its my opinion that it would be very nice if I could specify the exact spell my pet is going to cast on occasion. When fighting a mob that spams blind and having the pet blindna when I'm down to 200hp seems plain silly and a spell-specific macro would be able to solve this problem.
Practical use:
Fighting a mob with light movement up, I'm getting slammed and I know my pet is going to remove my blind status before curing me, so I press my /automaton "cure VI" <t> macro and my pet cure's me instead when it does its next cast.
The effect could show up like a sneak attack symbol reflecting a one time effect use ability is going to be made next and wears on the first spell cast by the automaton.

I don't see SE implementing something like this. Could just carry eye drops with you. :P
And, really, I'd rather just have SE change the AI than give us more JAs. >_>; But that's a topic that's been done to death.

Yeah I'd be happy with the Automaton understanding that if I use a light maneuver I just want it to cure(when it would normally have cured, if I didn't have any status effects on me) before removing status effects, otherwise removing the status effects is fine.

I don't mean I'm main healing a pt, I mean more than a few times I've been soloing mobs that spam blind/para and as fast as the automaton could remove them it would be back on and obviously the pet removes the status effects before healing. I'd like it to be able to heal-only instead of removing status effects before healing.
That said though. If we did have a command to specify the next spell casted, our Automaton's might not use cureVI when a cure IV would have sufficed, as well... requiring less pet cycling mid fight.

This is the same as the complaints that have been on this forum since the beginning.
The most logical solution is for SE to lump the -na spells into water maneuver only conditions.
It's the least complicated, most practical solution. We don't need another Job Ability or overpowered spell selection routines. Just a minor AI fix.

Our healing pet is just not reliable to do any serious fight, this is the fact... I have both pup and whm and I have never once ask to go as pup when playing with others. My point is, pup is not needed in FFXI at all, no matter how SE fix pup, this job is never needed. ><;

Yup, just need MNK and WHM. Every other job is useless.

Your not wrong... But, I have lots of jobs, when I play PUP, like BST... its because I'm wanting solo time. I'd just like the automaton to work a little differently is all. heh

I don't deny that pup is a great solo job, but I feel online game shouldn't be play alone. And is not like I don't want to play pup, is that most people who I meet ask me to use other jobs instead of pup.
I love pup, and I love online MMO

too bad people you meet are not very smart. We can do 8-12k self skill chains everytime we get 100 tp.

Unfortunately, damage isn't everything since the release of abyssea, or else you would be right, and our pet's AI isn't helping us stand out neither. I understand why the OP is asking an ability for our pet to Cure 6 us, if the AI works, this ability wouldn't be needed.

And I wish we could just reprogram our Automaton's AI using "gambits" like FF12, but that isn't happening either :p. Would give PUP more of an "Engineer" feel, but w/e. It'd also fix the "Cure VI" spam that I hate so much, lol.

This will never happen. SE is well aware of our AI being broken, they have even SAID the AI is broken, sometime over 4 years ago. This would be a fix-albeit a bad one-to that broken AI. $+ years with no effort, verbal response or anything else addressing the AI issue should be ample answer IN ITSELF that-despite acknowledging the issue-there is no intention to EVER do anything about this issue. Do keep complaining about it tho', sometimes it is a good thing to continually call someone on their own bullshit... and to never let up.

Some times I feel SE should just take away our h2h skill completely and give us abilities to fully control our pet instead. XD
A puppetmaster should have FULL control our pet, have our puppet act for us. Our pet's AI, should be fully control by our will on how the puppet should act.
