View Full Version : Automaton Oil Improvements

Just a few suggestions:
- A +3 Oil is a little overdue. Or perhaps a new named oil with a different synth altogether (to alleviate the HQ problem.) Automaton Lubricant maybe?
- The standard oils should also replenish a certain percentage of MP alongside HP. A small amount.
- On that note, perhaps lower the repair recast timer to 2 minutes. The single minute could make all the difference for things like Repair-based erase and spamming oils.
- Perhaps create new synths for alternate oils. This will improve the functionality of Repair and encourage more PUPs to take advantage of this Job Ability. This wouldn't be a new job ability, simply different oils.
Just some examples:
"Automat. Lubricant" --> essentially the +3 oil, but in a different category, with it's own +1 and maybe +2 at or above level 75.
"Automat. Coolant - Removes burden overtime from the automaton."
Ingredients: Distilled Water, Plasma Oil, Ice Cluster, Polyflan Paper.
"Puppet Petrol - Increases Maneuver Duration (maybe also Burden for fairness)"
Please feel free to discuss.

all decent ideas! and speaking as a beast as well, look how much Eta heals and compare that to what oil +2 does; assuming no augmentation the comparison isn't even remotely proportional, we do need something that keeps pace with end-game numbers, both auto's base HP and all the damage flying around.

Well, for some reason now that we got adjustments we won't get more adjustments for minimum 6 months

I always thought the oils for pup were a little underpowered but when you take into account the regen/refresh ablilites we can add with attachments that seems to make up for what repair oils lack. On the other hand, I do think that we are overdue for at least a post 75 version of oil.

I hate having to throw up Light Maneuvers for Regens to kick in with the ValorEdge Frame, It overrides Cannibal Blade. =\

Yeah, but like every other job in the game, we have to make choices about what we do. Do we wanna keep our auto alive or just let it tear off faces with dd. Balance is the key.

Totally agree with Jackastheripper. The job is about balance, patience, and timing.
Not saying it's perfect either. I'll admit, my burden removal suggestion is a bit much to ask for, considering that overload is one of the few things that keep PUPs in check and fair.
Still, I wanted to make the suggestion, see how the community handled it. For sure, the next tier of oils is in order.

It's a good suggestion don't get me wrong! I agree 100% that it is about time we get some upgraded oils. With all the pet foods out there I don't think some enhancement oils and most definitely at least a high level repair oil is to much to ask.

make the burden removal one on par with the Vile Elixir +, or as uncommon to craft as that thing to lower Miasma in Attowah, you'll maybe buy it to handle a tough battlefield, otherwise you won't bother. Granted, I'd prolly just 2hr...

Glamdring, I really like that idea. Not something you'd want to spam, necessarily, but something situational. Expensive. Useful, like an icarus wing. I like it.

Not to derail but, I do believe this is one of the first real "discussions" I have read on these forums. No flaming, name calling, or trolling. 2 thumbs way up for good conversation!

I've seen a few good threads, but you're right. Think it's because the OP had a legitimate, valid point that he had actually thought out and did something to articulate. This way we can comment on specifics, like the mechanics of delivery and such instead of just bashing the entire concept because there is nothing specific to comment on.

Great. Now we just need a few likes on the main post and maybe, maybe some developers will catch a glimpse.
More in line with the discussion, I also wanted to propose a handful of others but I fear that too much variety can either become too inventory intensive or too tedious to craft/stock up on.
Something like subtle blow, or a +X to all stats, or perhaps an Enmity + and - effect as well.
It's a bit much when you consider how much attachments already buff the Puppet, but this would make Repair a more common job ability to use.
