Well i guess my option 4 skill ups on guarding are slim. I been a monk / pup 4 a long time and nothing is as maddening as trying to get guarding up. I suppose i could just go on with my 200 guarding skill, but this is a matter i wish to get a Dev Tracker involved. I guard often but skill ups are extremely few and far between. Averaging out at about a .1 per every 500 to 2000 guards. Any monk / pup can tell when he guards so why make it so hard to skill up. I am at the point i can skill up guard on monk because my survival rate on monk alone is low. Without assistance so is ask 4 a pair of H2H weapon with a latent effect of increase the rate you guard not asking 4 much just like 20% 30%. Since everyone else is made about the burattinaios no one would question the nerf if it help with survivability. If anyone agrees please try to get a Dev on this thank you 4 reading.

Seeing how skill guarding in itself is useless (5% to guard whether you have skill lvl of 1 or 300) I doubt this is on any of the developer's priority list. Although i wish it would do something, even give mnk and pup something like traits which boost guarding, kind of like pld increase chance to block with a shield.

A favorite guard skill up camp for PUP was the garlaige citadel. SE moved the mobs around, so now we can't go there to skill up. Why did SE decide to throw the old mobs behind the banishing gate?!!?

There are few players still dedicated to skill ups and keeping everything capped. Very few of us, refuse to level unless everything is capped. You can imagine parry and guard being one of the things that keeps us from moving forward.

I disagree. There is a distinct difference based on the target level of the mob and your current guard skill regarding proc rates.

I'm also infuriated with the mob shift in many areas. I've had to make a large overhaul of my listed skillup camps.
I hold guard very dearly and wouldn't particularly mind an H2H weapon that has, say, very low damage/high delay in exchange for a much higher guard rate.

Any one that disagrees with that is a fool. Just look back at genome that guys guard skill at 75 was 315 with gear, and he brought a hole new meaning to tanking. Sadly either he stopped playing, or just doesn't care to post more vids. Whatever the case anything that is not easy to skill up people say is usless and a waste of time. I have a guard skill of 200 and i guard very often. A guard can be the difference between a fatal blow and a glancing one

yeah, guard skill is tricky, no question. there's a guide on the wiki for pup written by a player who was dedicated to leveling while keeping guard up, but he stopped before getting near endgame. Still, his focus all the way up was to fight mandys. Nowadays, lycopodium are better, simply because they don't have sleep. However, any monk-type mobs are good for guard skill, mandy/lyco are best simply because they hit alot... for a little. I don't know what level your skill is, but there are several mandy/lyco camps in Abyssea that would conceivably be good, and with a regen atma you could almost AFK. Unfortunately, you also evade more, even without the Atma, if you use cruor buffs. I've been gettign decent skill-ups on guard (but I'm like 200+ below cap) while doing GoV.

Hey Glamdring, if you're talking about "Guarding with Tetsu," I'm seriously beyond flattered.
I believed for a while that no one bothered to read the guide at all.
I'm still working on it (currently at level 66) and I apologize for my lack of progress. Lots of real life situations have gotten in the way.

I'd be glad to post some updates soon, thanks for inspiring me to continue.

One issue is the one Huevriel stated above. One of my guarding camps was recently flooded with insanely levelled mobs in place of my targets, and I'm working around how to address this.

Also, if you're way above your current guarding skill, I've been most successful either equipping evasion minus gear and/or linking multiple mobs.

I was absolutely referring to you, and I read your guide and used it as a bible towards my lower leveling. I actually used it as a research tool before I even unlocked the job. Was a very good guide and I was sorry to pass the level it ended. Of course, nothing fixes the crappy skill-up rate on gaurd, with the possible exception of the new content, which I have yet to get the prowess or Prousse.
