View Full Version : Question for the developers: What do you have against Titan?

Mountain Buster became "more powerful than intended" in the last version update. However, this power upgrade was not unbalanced. It put Titan on the list of top physical damage dealer avatars, alongside Garuda, Ifrit, and Ramuh.
Summoner hasn't seen more powerful blood pacts than Predator Claws/Flaming Crush/Chaotic Strike/Merit blood pacts at all since the level cap increase started. I'm sure most jobs have gotten abilities stronger than what they had before, but the three new blood pact rage abilities still don't live up to to the level 70 and 75 rage pacts of the six sleeping gods.
So, Summoner was accidentally empowered. Titan became a consistent and strong physical DD avatar. And since I don't have Geocrush fully merited, it was a delight to make use of Titan. Thank you for pointing out that he was stronger so I was able to briefly enjoy it. Unless there is something devastatingly broken and secret that was fixed, ~2200 damage from Mountain Buster isn't that much more than 1400~2000 from Chaotic Strike, Flaming Crush, and Predator Claws on the same enemies. After all, it's level 90. Shouldn't we have something new that is more powerful than what we had at 70/75? And I'd love to see the avatar physical DD tiers shaken up, with Titan, Leviathan, and Shiva equaling or surpassing the big three, and Fenrir at least making somewhat of a comeback. I just think it's fun to use other avatars sometimes.
So why the Titan hate? He's a cutie. Can I use him?
And before anyone brings up magic pots and skeletons and Titan being so good against them, try out Chaotic Strike and Flaming Crush on them, which are superior blunt damage. Mountain Buster is not up to par.

Ifrit? Ifrit? Ifrit? I mean Ifrit? I don't even use Ifrit because he does pitiful damage against every monster that isn't an open mouth goldfish. Every single 3 months when I pull him out to give him another chance, he goes off and does some 400 damage just to go back into the cave he came from.
Of course, there is a possibility my random target has been anti-ifrit these last 5 years, but it is hard to believe.
And while we are at it... new spirit spells? Where are they? Summoner went from 75 to 90 and only got some mediocre upgrades to magic damage on Carby, Fenrir and Diabolos. Better be some kind of killer moves lurking every level post 90 to 99.

Flaming Crush tends to outdamage and be more consistent than both Ramuh and Garuda on easy prey and too weak monsters, from my experience, while sometimes not faring as well against stronger targets. Flaming Crush is just weird that way. Go farm skeletons in Gustav tunnel and reduce them to 10% HP in one crush, or spiders in Kuftal Tunnel and consistently reduce them to 1% HP with a crush or even kill them if you already tapped them a little, or of course, qutrubs, which flaming crush can hit for over 10K (see bog body in abyssea and Moshdahn in Caedarva Mire).
If you're getting bad results, get some empyrean +1/2 and 400+ summoning skill, then try.

I would like to know why my Favorite Character is so unworthy of a little attention. At least fix the obvious problems with summoner such as BP not going off in a crowd but timer re-setting. Summoner has all these bugs and the only attention it gets is nerfs? I don't get it.

It's 200~800 more damage. That's not inconsiderable.

Meh...how about how many jobs can equal and exceed an avatar's BP damage in one shot. I can peg 2k+ with a Great Axe WS, and I'm not even capped on skill and still in "gimped" gears. There was a thread up the other day complaining about how a BLU's brewed burst damage wasn't showing up properly if it was exceding 65535 damage.

On a scale of Useful Avatars goes like this for me.
Garuda > Leviathan > Ramuh > Fenrir > Titan > Ifrit > Diabolos > Carbuncle.
I have never seen the damage they shouldn't be doing as SE puts it, maybe its because i hardly use those Avatars but Tail Whip? I mean, why? ><

Shiva can lay out the same numbers that a BLM Bliz V can, with excessive focus on avatar magic attack bonus.
... every 45 seconds.
So yeah, SMN didn't need fixing.
I imagine they did it however simply because it was "unintended"

i personally love titan as my main man, earthern ward and armor are both amazing skills and geocrush with earth based stun is beyond awesome, but i do think all avatars should have around the same attack power on physical blood pacts, to single our or divide them isn't right. I've stopped using garuda just for that point, everyone uses her, hell even her magian trial staff is the easiest to get compaired to the others. Like come on titan had to fight bee's and bombs and get kill shot, do you know how hard it is to get a kill shot with titan when everything wants to kill itself?
back on topic. It seems that the avatars final physical bloodpacts all do the same damage but because some are multi hit each hit counts as its own damage to exceed the others damage. If SE wants to divide the avatars so badly then give them better stats to each their own to justify it like giving titan a hefty defence and hp compaired to the rest.
Just to rub salt in our cuts they gave garuda a self heal BP:W so she can stay up for longer then most.

On the other hand she only has two physical attacks, claw and predator claws, which are at about 60 levels difference.

She also has her own useful gear, notorious damage, haste, walk speed, and blink. She's a few steps from becoming a real player compared to the others. I use ifrit in pts that have melee and mainly 1h groups tbh so i may seem biased towards an avatar that has everything but stoneskin and healing ruby II. Besides... it was the only avatar to use 15 levels ago so i suspect it will be the only one to use till 99.

the healing ruby II thing isn't really true, she has healing wind also. They made garuda a forced staple to summoners while the other avatars are left being 3rd place, yes garuda takes both 1st and 2nd place, now thats unbalanced
