View Full Version : Horst teleport to LaThiene = Stuck in load screen

I dont know if anyone else has had this problem, but anytime I use Horst to teleport out to LaThiene I get stuck in the loading screen for a good 3 minutes then get:

Error FFXI-3001
Connection time out.

Since this has happened I have done a file check 2x, reset my router & modem, restarted my computer a billion times, and still nothing.

I am able to log in to my mules without a problem.
After the connection timeout message I am taken back to the login screen where all my characters are listed. Selecting my main takes me back into the loading screen where I get stuck again.

I don't know what other options I have aside from dropkicking the crap out of my laptop and setting it on fire. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

It's because too many people will be in La Theine it always happens in Port Jeuno on Pheonix now SE took the cheap route and merged server..

It's going to result in me cancelling my account since I can't play the game as I can't log on.

Port Jeuno in Phoenix is incredibly loaded. So many times people go to Port Jeuno only to get in, only to get DC'd because of how loaded it is, this is especially true during the JP Primetime, and late NA primetime.

The only way for me to fix this is to have someone else log into my account and move me to West Ron. I even tried logging in on my other computer and I get the same issue with the loading screen. Sad panda :(

SE Technical support told me it had to do with comcast and my router ports?? Uh...wat? I'm not comfortable messing with my router things, totally at a loss here now, lol.

I got the exact same boot, and error message, but while doing something completely unrelated to teleporting to La Theine via Horst. I was actually just getting ready to walk out of Behemoth's Dominion (since the NMs there are broke and cannot spawn), went afk for a few minutes before I completely walked out of the area, and came back to a Playonline screen with that same error message.

My server is one that had merged with another (Siren) and this could very well be related to some load balance issues. This is the only disconnect issue that's come up for me. I did notice that around this time, there were almost 3k players online at the time. That's the most I've seen in quite sometime, but during FFXI's peak, that seemed normal for a Friday night. I wonder if they had removed resources from their servers over the past couple years as the population has dwindled, and didn't add them back on to the servers that merged during the last update?

Anyhow, SE does make port information available so you can ensure you have the right ports open. However, if you've been running the game just fine for the past year or so, over the same home network, router etc. it would make no sense at all for you to go monkey with your ports. SE did not make any port changes that they notified the player base about with the last patch, and unless you run a tightly controlled firewall or some strict router ACLs at home (highly doubt you do as most home users wouldn't), the advise the support desk gave you isn't relevant anyhow, as your ports are likely wide open.

I am on Leviathan so no server merges for me. However I just made my home point Port Sandy to alleviate any unneeded congestion...tried to port out to LaThiene again from there and got locked up in the loading screen again.

Would a fresh reinstall help maybe? (Something I was trying to avoid...)

Also note: I am getting this same issue on 2 separate computers, my laptop and PC. PLus, this started happening AFTER the version update on monday.

The fact that you've demonstrated this same issue on multiple computers indicates its not a screw up as far as a particular FFXI installation. I highly recommend you not spend time doing a re-install, as the observations don't support any facts that indicate you should. If it were just one machine, then maybe, as a last resort only, but sense you said its happening on more than one, I'd look for some other common factor.

Arourie seems to have had this issue during peak hours. Have you tried doing a Horst teleport during non-peak hours?

Also, even if SE didn't merge your server doesn't mean they didn't do some general server architecture change on the back end affecting all servers. I wouldn't be surprised if they did since there seems to be quite a few broken things across the board, which indicates some things didn't migrate too well. Hopefully next week's update will comprehensively address these issues. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this concern and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this must be causing you. We have received similar reports on occasion. It is difficult to determine the exact cause because while a few are affected, other players remain completely fine under the same or similar conditions/settings.
Luckily, these types of issues usually self-resolve over time. This has happened to me personally and sure enough, I was able to log in the next day without having to open any ports or change any settings.
If we may request that you please try logging in again at a later time. We will also be moving this to the technical support section so you can receive additional suggestions from the community.

Thank you,

And again, I tried to zone into Qufim Island and the same thing happened. This is incredibly aggravating and it needs to be fixed. I'm sure I'm speaking for everyone that's posting here that this 'inconvenience' is far greater than you are making it seem.

I'm so glad that all of us are paying for this monthly service that we are able to selectively access.
This is absolute garbage.

It's not only teleportation. A few days ago, this happened when I would zone into Jeuno from Qufim. However that stopped. Now I just can't log in properly. Not just on my main character, but mules as well. This is not a problem with my ISP, router port or anything else that Square wants to use as an excuse. This is on SE's end. If it were a port or a router or an ISP problem this would have heppened long ago and not only that, wouldn't be exclusive to only one place in the game.

LadyRagefist,

We can offer a few suggestions if you are experiencing any of the following:
• Have difficulty connecting to or staying connected to the PlayOnline Viewer or FINAL FANTASY XI
• Crash, receive a black screen error, or get stuck at the downloading data screen upon clicking your character handle or character select button
• See your the lag meter turn red
• Encounter increased lag or connection problems near crowed areas
• Have trouble accessing specific zone(s)
• Have trouble logging in with specific character(s)
• Receive any of these errors: 3113, 3100, 4001, 1160

Suggestions:
1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC: TCP 1024 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535. Also, check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software/hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.

Please take note of the following:
• Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
• Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
• If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.

Thank you for your reply, however, I have done all of these things prior to your response.
I am currently in the middle of my 2nd reinstall just to make sure that my own PC is not the issue. Prior to my uninstall last night I used a port scanner to test if any of the necessary ports for the game were closed.
Interestingly enough the only port that had an issue was port 138, as it returned a 0.0.0.0 address upon trying to access Qufim Island. Packet requests were sent but nothing was returned even after forwarding that port. Everything just sort of died upon access, and then the 'FFXI no response from server' error was displayed.
As of now I am out of options.

Also, though I don't condone this, I did the same testing while at work and was able to access both La Thiene and Qufim without a problem, however, we have Verizon internet at work. Amidst your latest update, if any of the access ports were changed for Qufim/La Thiene to port 135-139 I need to know. This way I can for sure take this issue to my ISP and raise all sorts of unholy blinding hell since they did close these ports some time ago.

Help me help you.

well, suddenly (after emergency maintenance) i am able to zone into and out of jueno without issue and without doing anything to my router or modem. Veeerrrryy interesting don't ya think?

Not entirely. I am able to access Qufim and La Thiene now, but I get stuck at the loading screen zoning into abyssea attohwa. Soooo this is still an issue.

Things I've done since this problem arrived:

Directly connected my laptop instead of using wireless connection
Reinstalled game...TWICE. (Billions of swear words strewn about)
Replaced router (even though not using wireless connection anymore)
Replaced MODEM!! (Because router was jelly)

::Magical FFXI maintenance occurs::

La Thiene and Qufim no longer give me problems.
Try to zone into Abyssea Attohwa to grab head piece - LOCKED. 3001 error.

This issue isn't going away, and sadly neither am I until its fully resolved.
DxDiag is clean, laptop is new. PC and Laptop have the same zoning issue & receive the same error.
Send receive shows packets being sent back and forth without a problem upon zoning into different areas until I try to get into Abyssea Attohwa. The IP address crashes out to 0.0.0.0 upon requesting data.

Something. Is wrong. With your servers.
Please admit this, and resolve the issue.

months have passed and the 3001 error still here. weird thing is, that it occurs only on my laptop, never on desktop using the same steam game version.
but im usung laptop in different place. i'll check it at home. i have a feeling, that somehow this is ISP or/and hardware issue.
