May 2011 - Additional Version Updates

Event-related

* The following additions / adjustments will be made to Voidwatch.

o A new item that will act as a substitute for the voidstone has been added.

* Additional texts will be added to the Goblin NPCs that sell the key items to enter Dynamis. These new text will assist players by explaining the new system in detail.
* Adjusting the location of the synergy furnace in Jeuno.


Battle-related

* We will be making changes to how certain monsters in the following areas will detect a player character. In addition, the monster placement of certain notorious monsters will be adjusted.
Ranguemont Pass / Bostaunieux Oubliette / Toraimarai Canal / Zeruhn Mines / King Ranperre's Tomb / Dangruf Wadi / Inner Horutoto Ruins / Ordelle's Caves / Outer Horutoto Ruins / Eldieme Necropolis / Gusgen Mines / Crawlers' Nest / Maze of Shakhrami / Garlaige Citadel / Fei'Yin
* The following additions / adjustments will be made to Grounds of Valor.

o Adjusting the amount of experience points earned upon completion of a regime.
o Increase the number of “Grounds Tome” placed within the designated areas.

* The following adjustments will be made to the puppetmaster job.

o The following adjustments will be made to the new automaton attachments.

+ Heat Capacitor
It will no longer erase all Fire Maneuver effects.
* Please note that the help message for the attachment will be adjusted at a later date.
+ Power Cooler
It will reduce the MP cost even if there are no Ice Maneuvers in effect.
+ Galvanizer
It will increase the chance of countering even if there are no Thunder Maneuvers in effect.

o The following adjustments will be made to the new weapon skills that were added. In addition, we will address an issue wherein the damage of the weapon skill is not calculated properly.

+ String Shredder
Increasing the damage and the addition of status bonuses.
+ Armor Shatterer
Increasing the damage and the addition of status bonuses.
Changing the skillchain element from Fragmentation / Scission to Fusion / Impaction.

* The following issue with the summoner job will be addressed.

o An issue wherein the damage of “Crescent Fang,” “Mountain Buster,” “Tail Whip” is higher than intended.

* The following additions / adjustments will be made to Abyssea.

o The game will remember the Atma that the player was last infused with.
o Adjustments will be made to the new methods that were added to obtain empyrean upgrade items.
o Placing additional “???” which can be used to spawn certain notorious monsters.
o Adjusting the location of new Abyssea support NPCs that have been added to San d’Oria / Bastok / Windurst.


Item-related

* Increasing the number of new linkshells that are sold.


Other issues that will be addressed

* An issue wherein a previously etched aperture is removed from an item during synergy.
* An issue wherein certain text within the Fellowship Quest is incorrect.

This is quite awesome, quick updates notes of planned fixes already. The Abyssea stuff in particular is awesome. Hope they are coming sooner rather than later but still, happy to read this.

Goshdarnit, they really need to add more grounds tomes because the way they are placed now guarantees this system is going to flop, for high level needs that is. Lower levels seem ok in the zones i've looked at.

Seriously SE, two tomes in all of crawler's nest? There should be at least one tome in the basement (the floor that the secret room is located). I could be wrong though, if someone's found a third I'd love to know.

And yay for recalling atma sets. Still better than scrolling through a bunch of pages.

I still don't understand why tthey are nerfing already weak SMN BP's though....especially ones that are really only used for their status effects. They just another one of their redheaded stepchildren I guess.

chances are they arent nerfing the weak bps,.

Its probably that with certain specific gear/atma combos it becomes broke and does rediculous damage, and they are fixing it for the 1% of smn doing 10k dmg with their specific atma setup.

I have yet to see Fenrir, Leviathin, or Titan do that kind of damage in one shot with atmas. Maybe it's something I don't have yet, who knows. Now BLU with a brew......

If any of the community team are reading this, can you clarify what "Placing additional “???” which can be used to spawn certain notorious monsters." means? I'm getting it could mean "multiple ??? for NMs like Briareus so multiple groups can fight different copies of the NM at the same time", or it could mean "adding a ??? and pop item for NMs like Gukumatz, which are currently time-spawned".

Given past updates I would say it's to spawn multiple +1 nms.

That's the main reason I'd like clarification: it could mean a great deal of things, none of which are really out-of-the-question to consider.

Have they listed known issues regarding this update yet? We found out yesterday while helping a junior member that you can't currently complete Zilart missions for sky under some circumstances. The headstone NM's won't pop and give a message that they're already popped. In before silly questions (yes, we were the only people in the zone, called GM and GM confirmed issue).

They're broken right now. In Dynamis yesterday, My GF was using the "broken" blood pacts to test their Damage.

Crescent Fang (19MP) Averaged ~1,600 Damage, Highest was 2,200.
Tail Whip we only used ~twice, one for 750ish, another for 1,200ish (another low level BP)
Mountain Buster didn't seem broken at all (Did about 1,700).

Crescent Fang however, Is really really broken atm, ~2,000 Damage for a 19MP bloodpact... it was averaging higher than Eclipse bite lol.

So basically, its not a nerf, They accidentally buffed it last update (Spaghetti CODE!) and now they're returning it to normal.

I've been a bit curious about the levels of the mobs in Dynamis (never did do any of it), considering it was originally level 75 content. The last Limbus run I went on to dink around for ABC's was a joke at 90. If the mobs scaled in a similar fashion, would expect some decent numbers to be done as well.

But, if you were getting numbers like that, then it should be something pertaining to just Dynamis <hopefully>. Don't recall Fenrir cranking out huge numbers like that for me when I was using him on the weather kills at start of this last weapon and my NPC's limit breaks the other day--and those were EP mobs.
