Game not recieving keyboard commands

I am currently stuck in my Mog House because the game's menus will not accept commands from my keyboard while they're pulled up...

Area: Port Jeuno

Server: Carbuncle

Character: Xeno

Platform: PC (Windows 7 64-bit)

I can change the camera angle and what not with the directional buttons just as they should work, but when I pull up a menu, like to choose to exit the Mog House, they no longer work... I can't change the menu selection to yes...

This worked fine prior to the emergency maintenance, so I assume it's something that happened as a result...

Update:

I tried to logout using the text command (/logout) and that worked, but then I couldn't select my character from the Character Select screen... I discovered that it will work briefly if you tab out of the window and back into it... but it will then freeze up and stop accepting commands after you make a selection...

Also, it will let me scroll through an inventory screen by pressing left and right to go up and down by pages, but when it gets to the bottom of the list it will not go further than the top of that page... and the up and down arrows do nothing at all...

Another Update:

It has something to do with the mouse... I don't use the mouse to play the game, it just sits in the background (invisible since when you use the directional functions on the keyboard the cursor disappears) but when the menu stops working if I move the mouse a little it will work briefly before it stops working (and I have to move it again...)

Edit:

The mouse no longer disappears when the directional buttons are moved... leading me to believe that something has happened that prevents the mouse from being disabled by the game when it receives movement commands from the keyboard...
