Since I stopped playing on PS2 back in 2004, I've been unable to check my POL mail. I now play on PC and whenever I try to pull up my POL mailbox, I get a message, not letting me load any of my mail. It's been this way since 2004 and i'm just curious now since I just now got a new email and no way to check it. Anyone know how I could fix it?

I promptly forgot my POLmail password after starting the game in 04 and never bothered with it again until years later when I got some email(from SE, something regarding accounts that went out to everyone). It kept annoying me that I had the mail notification icon but couldn't check it to clear it out. Eventually I asked about it with the web form, but apparently there's no way of recovering/resetting that password via the web or POL. I was told I had to call customer support, but since I've always heard about how many hours it can take to get through I just gave up and dealt with it until the system decided the message was old enough to not bother telling me it needed reading.

; ; Yeah, well, I have my password correct an everything, it worked fine on ps2 but for some reason it does'nt on PC. Prolly network settings or something? Hoping reps will help answer this.

Just needs reset. I think you can actually just wipe out the old email account and have a new one, been awhile don't remember needing the old password for that though.

Got rid of some of its features like the filter and the "playonli plus" letting you have extra email accounts with your characters name I thought


I still have my pol email address anyway.

No. They removed the optional Character Name Address and filter services.

Necro'ing this thread hardcore, I'm sure.

But I just got a PoL mail message tonight, and I'm experiencing the same issue, I can't log into my PoL because the password (Which is correct) is constantly telling me it's incorrect.

My friend has the same issue with hers, Did the original poster ever figure this out?

No but that mail is useless. It is just a message about the concert coming up in California.

From the Square Enix account management page:

1. Select Service
2. PlayOnline / Final Fantasy XI
3. "Options List" for your PlayOnline ID
4. Update PlayOnline Mail Password

Changes will take effect immediately.

i have had this prob from day one,i called SE and was not helped in anyway so i dont think that will help. I just got a mes from SE this morning and i hope it wasnt about the gobbie bag thingy that would just break my spirit then.

Speaking of POL mail, SE, can you please do away with it and never use it again? I was not pleased that I had to log out of my game and check my email just for a concert notification that I've known about for quite some time. :/ If you want to send us emails, at least let us check them without having to log out.

i have changed password and it still never worked.

It didn't work for me either until I changed the mail account server settings within PlayOnline in order to save the password, instead of having it prompt me.

Give this player a cookie, I'd thumbs up this 10 times if I could because it WORKs.

SE phone support gets' a F for FAIL

I contacted them today for this issue and the rep said we're sorry no way to fix this unless you know the original password. He said it's an ongoing issue.

COME ON SE. The tech support failed to give this info and a normal player was better support then the paid representatives.

If your support team can't resolve issues like these and they don't know enough to help the customer then your phone support stinks.

It's definitely not the first time the customer support seems to know less than the players do. I've seen it happen way too many times during the years, and I frankly do not expect it to change. =/

As for the concert email, I didn't get one, though I loggedo ut some time ago so it might have arrived after that. On another note, I'm also in the Europe, so perhaps I got filtered out due to that. Though I do doubt it.

Can't be bothered logging in now either, so I guess I'll see tomorrow or so. ^^;

Just going to bump this again because Square Enix figured it'd be a great idea to send another reminder.

Seriously. Stop. Post your important news here and stop making my screen flash. It's irritating having to log out of the game just to check the message about a VanaFest anniversary event that I'm not planning on going to.

Or at the very least include an option to disable the notification within the game. That flashing icon becomes a serious annoyance after the first 30 seconds.

honestly the emails should go to whatever email you have registered on your SE account, their email system doesn't even accept incoming emails from a good portion of email providers anyway, so what is the real point in it? there isn't one
