With the upcoming bonanza and anniversary as well as the event items we'll be able to obtain, is it at all possible to make it so the bonanza marbles we purchase are temp key items instead of actual items? Inventory is hurting already for many of us, especially mages (like a billion staves and crap? dumb.). Discuss.

Very much in favor of that. Also, Redeyes. Missed out of them by a small margin, finally get a chance at those again. Feel like I should have more mules.

Having them be temp items would be amazing beyond words.

Though the reply we'll get (if any) will be something along the lines of:
'After speaking with the dev team they said they cant do it bc there's no more magical unicorn butter to make extra memory for this to happen bla bla bla'
Regardless...I think this is a valid request, especially with all of the newly acquired AF and seals/job specific items we are obtaining through this whole Abyssea thing...not to mention different gear sets we all have. This is far from a cry of 'omg my inventory is hurting waaaaahhh'. This is more a 'Let's utilize the tools we have to make this bonanza crap easier on everyone's inventory'.
Spread the word. Get this noticed.

I don't think it is valid. Each marble is individual for a very obvious reason.

It is valid. Having a temp key item that says "Mog Bonanza Marble (845304)" instead of an actual item would be a billion times easier on everyone. Put it into perspective. It's just like having temp KI's to pop Aby NM's. You click on the ???, spam enter, pop the mob, lose the KI's. How can this NOT be applied to bonanza?
Get your ten numbers as temp KI's, after the drawing talk to the moogle to check your numbers. No monotonous trade cycle bs 10 times, no loss of initial inventory space upon marble purchase. And if you end up losing, who cares. You lose the temp key items, big deal.

Technically speaking that's more of a challenge than it seems. Items can save additional information (like remaining charges, WS points, etc.), key items can't. Key items are fixed items, so adding a key item for each number would require adding 100k new key items, since you can't make one key item "Bonanza Marble" that stores all that additional information.
It would be easier to store it seperately altogether, without items.

Like how storing gear whipes trial progress, tags are very hard to manage. Having a billion individual KI would be a far more massive undertaking then you think. Putting it on something physical is a better proccess for everyone.

What about battle trophies for abyssea? In my key items I only see one but dominion tacticians can see that I have 20+ of each. So maybe there are more editable properties for key items than we, as players not FFXI devs, know about. ;-)
Maybe they could make another mog house inventory like the mog sack and mog satchel, but purely for holding 10 mog bananza marbles?? And only have it as active inventory, during the time the mog bonanza events are going on.
**I only came here wondering though, when is the drawing for the most recent mog bonanza going to be? I wanna get rid of my marbles, win or not, but I'd like to win ackshully. :-D

What about a single marble that can hold 10 numbers? The tag could then read <11th Anniversary Mog Bonanza-2534X>, meaning you got one marble for number 25340 to 25349. The X could be on any position.

I think the reason the marbles are actual items is because the winnings are actual items; that is to say, the marbles take up the space in which the winnings would go, as proof that you have the space to receive the winning.
Of course not all 10 of your marbles are likely to win...

As crazy as that sounds, it does remind me eerily of SE logic. But no, fairly certain it's not the case, as there's already plenty of mechanisms regulating inventory space on receiving new items.

And there is and was and would be a certain audience that cries for more inventory space cause they are messies.
I remind you - you allready got 240 inventory and 220 storage. That's plenty of space.
So please learn to keep enough space ready for a random event that would require 10 inventory spaces for a short periode of time.
