Server transfers and Name issues

A issue I've seen is there have been many people going around taking other peoples names before server transfers just for laughs and bring grief to others, while this can be addressed by making a character of that name and then deleting it with the merger. I still ran into the problem.

It's happened to myself as well despite the fact looking and there being no auction house records of any other characters by my older name across all servers except the ones I owned.

This is very frustrating for many players I hope it can eventually be amended.

I thought this time around they locked character creation right away? :confused:

There was a period where you could go do this. As soon as we heard about the merge, several people on our LS ran and created characters on the destination worlds to reserve their names and our LS's name.

I think they waited 2-3 days before locking character creation. I think they should have locked it first, then announced the merger.
