POL Instant Messenger

I know there are "Chat Rooms" you can make in POL (or at least there was 3yrs ago). I was thinking though, that it would be awesome for an Instant Messenger for POL. Especially in cases of long updates. While Final Fantasy is updating I am unable to move from the downloads w/out interrupting it. Albeit I could just use MSN messenger to chat to friends, but there are friends who use different messengers, So I wouldn't be able to talk to everyone w/out using either a multi-messenger like Trillion or using multiple messengers. Please don't flame me for the suggestion. I'm sure there are downfalls to this suggestion, just as there are benefits. I'm just looking for a better way to communicate with POL/FFXI friends while updating is in progress.

Don't expect this to happen. Mainly b/c it will probably cause server lag. And considering in the recent update they are taking out Synergy Furnaces in Upper Jeuno to conserve resources. Its just an idea that decided to pop randomly in my head, out of boredom on waiting for the update to complete. :D

Is was SE needs to do is forget about FL+ and do LS+ wherein we can "log" into our LS from a SE site and talk to people in game.

They have an IM program interface for POL Viewer's friend list, however you cannot log into it without logging you out of whatever other program or machine is using the account. You can force an update without being logged in with a file check though.

That's the web interface. There's also a downloadable program I found on the JP site about 4 years ago, but I can't find the link right now.

They just can't do the program simultaneously with the update for console users, so nobody gets it.
