I was skimming through the version update notes and noticed that they say they're going to make it easier to find Almightly Apkallu. This NM is one of those NMs we as the playerbase never figured out the pop conditions for. While this is mostly due to the fact that the only place it could spawn was on the boat leaving Nashmau to return to Whitegate, which of course, no one ever takes (ever).
I'm a bit disappointed that they're adjusting this NM, as it always felt like one of the most mysterious NMs in the game. Anyone else feel this way? Guess I should be glad they haven't screwed with the Dark Rider yet (no one knows how to damage it in any way).

When I find the Dark Rider I'm going to poke him with a 40ft pole and run away screaming. ^^
But it doesn't effect me much, I've never seen this NM and I don't see him as being too important, however, if they are doing this to the Apkullu then they should also do it to some of the Trail NMs that take 20 hours <__<

Hopefully a SE rep can post the original pop conditions for this NM now that they've changed it.

And how AV was originally meant to be defeated, if ever -.-

It was probably like every other Boat NM, Random Spawn on its course. Probably 21-24 hour though. Its probably like the NM "Stubborn Dro...something", The Orc on the Carpenter's Landing boat.
But Since as mentioned above, NO ONE ROAD THE BOAT EVER. people rarely saw it.
What they're likely doing is just making its window shorter, or increasing its spawn rate.
Either way, No, I'm not upset its going to become more common.

I've seen it twice. Both times it spawned seconds before the boat docked without any hope of being able to get off a decent screenshot let alone kill the $%^&ing thing. I think it was a once a day pop and its timing plain sucked combined with hardly anyone taking that boat.

Lots of people have thought different things regarding it's pop times, that's why it's a bit of a shame that they're "fixing" it. Anyway, yeah, that's what I generally thought as well but, I know there were people who tried to hunt it down and never could figure it out.

I've rode that boat a couple of times and never seen it. Though it wouldn't surprise me if it was in an endless cycle of never being in my time zone on days I went by the boat. (Usually related to buying cards for COR or doing Einherjar, and then not being in a hurry to something after)

I bet every time the boat landed before anyone could kill it, its timer started back to the 24hr mark...

What are Trail NMs? Are they a part of the new Voidwatch thing?

Have had a friend ride the boat for 2 days straight and never saw a sighting. It was so random to whoever saw it, it seems.
Shameless bump for a SE rep!

SE hinted that the NM would only pop if there were multiple people on the boat a couple of years ago, so if you were alone, it wouldn't be popping.
