The new level cap increase for adventuring fellows shows that SE has not forsaken this area of the game. In light of this, I'd like to take time to express my confusion at the implementation of the fellow-augmenting Hydra gear.

This is gear that is relatively difficult to acquire, as it drops from mobs in Dynamis - Tavnazia. You would think this difficulty would be reflected in the benefits it bestows. While the gear is unique, this is not at all the case. The reason is that the gear must remain equipped in order for your fellow to receive the augments.

The only way this would be worth it is if your fellow received augments which made up for those you were sacrificing on your own character, but it's not even close. It's very disappointing to find that the only armor in the game that benefits fellows can only be described as unusable.

It's analogous to having to keep the Shinai equipped in order to receive those benefits. No one would consider doing that because it would be such an insurmountable handicap. However, the Shinai is much easier to acquire and bestows better benefits for damage-dealing fellows than the Hydra gear.

At the very least, the augments should stay if the gear is worn when your fellow is called, in the same manner as the Shinai. -5 inventory is an acceptable trade-off for the unarguably modest boosts your fellow would receive: +60 to HP & MP, +2 to base attributes.
