The rest of the requirements for Mythic quests seem reasonable - even though they're time consuming, but not impossible - the only issue is finding alexandrites, and 30k of them.

I am not sure if this idea was mentioned or any crazy ideas similar to this, but is there a way that maybe alexandrites can be made purchase via Imperial standings instead of only dropped from Salvage gears? It can be 500-1k or some fair amount of price with IS for the alexandrites. This would entice players to maybe fight monsters again in ToAU areas to gain IS that they may now be low on after buying all their imperial coins. Serious players who are after a Mythic weapon can form alexandrite farming statics to build up their IS. Unless perhaps there are great plans to change Salvage around to bring people back to it. (Awesome Salvage gear augments, etc.) Otherwise it is almost nearly impossible to find alexandrites for sale in bazaars.

And the alexandrites would be purchaseable for standing why? because the empire just has a few million of them lying around to hand out to anyone who wants to buy them?

You could buy em from nashmu for imperial currency it being a kinda black market kinda of place.

OR even better you could hire Qiqirn, Moogles and Goblins/Moblins to explore Nyzle isle for treasure as a mini game to get Alexandrite and occasionally rare treasure.

Goblins = Protection from random encounters inside
Moogles = Map making/Increased Storage
Qiqirn = Decreases time taken and TH

All can have lvls and random triats for it's race.

Add rare Alexandrite drops to:
* Bastion invasion waves.
* Gears, Chariots, Spheres and Acroliths populating Abyssea.
* Cotton and Linen Coin Purses on Nyzul Isle Investigation bosses (floors 20,40,60,80,100)

Another Idea: They could add "the Depths of Alzadaal"; new sections of the existing Alzadaal Undersea Ruins zone (separated by teleporters), that is always open to exploration and fighting, populated by Archaic Ramparts, Gears, Spheres, Acroliths, Rogue Automatons and Chariots that all have chances to drop alexandrite. Notorious monsters (if any) could drop Cotton and Linen Coin Purses like the bosses within Salvage.

With enough spawns on 5min repops, at a level that would drop Kindred's Crests and High Kindred's Crests, they might become a popular farming target, increasing the supply of Alexandrite beyond just that obtained by mythic upgrading soloers.

Prob should keep alexandrite away from group battle systems especially ones not incorporating the expansion the item originated from. Although I could see potential for a besieged/salvage point system based on performance in either event. Would allow for players who aren't lucky with drops from gears/bosses to obtain some after obtaining a set amount of points, think in the lines of Ichor but add different pouches. (10~25 Alexandrite pouch, 30~45 Alexandrite pouch) allows players to still obtain the current pouches during runs but also speed up process based on effort and not just luck.

Eh, my stance on drops just like in my comment on previous idea, keep it to area of origin (aka ToAU areas).

This would be great! Nyzul Isle is technically a part of the ruins and almost each floor holds at least 1 gate (could let singles drop from gates/chariots/gears). And adding an incentive to doing bosses (cause lets face it, nyzul gear has been out shined like much of its predecessors by emp/abyssea gear) as many people either have sets/individual pieces of worthwhile nyzul gear.
