View Full Version : Abyssea Level Adjustment

This may be my own personal opinion, but I believe that the level cap for the Abyssea areas should be adjusted from the current 30 to 75. At current, most people grind in small parties or solo until they're able to enter Abyssea. From there, they leech until level 90.

In doing so, there has been an adverse affect on quality of players and detrimental decrease in population of various areas. Players are now lacking ambition to continue on anything else but Abyssea areas and strive for nothing else. One area to be noted are the ToAU areas that are being completely bypassed because there is no need to use them other than missions.

Auction Houses are also adversely affected by this, creating gaps between lower level and high-level items and equipment. Simply they are seen as no longer necessary to synthesis or farm to sell in order to turn a profit. This further hurts the the range of players that get stuck in the 30-75 ranges. Some of which are lucky enough to keep at it, soloing, finding pick-up groups, or one of the lucky few that get into an Abyssea party and is carried to the finish line.

In short I would like to have a reconsideration to the level requirement to the Abyssea areas. In raising the level cap to enter Abyssea, players will become more involved in the previous areas, redirecting their focus on other aspects of the game other than simply Abyssea areas.

The main problem is that all the good gear 76+ comes from Abyssea, which doesn't use gil, so gil becomes nearly worthless to high level players, and they have all the gil while the low level players have almost none. As high level players don't need much gil, they don't craft things to sell to lower level players. I'm mainly spending gil on my mage jobs for scrolls, and buying from NPCs for less then the AH quite often.

It's too late to change the level cap now. It would create an unfair advantage for the thousands who have leeched 15 jobs to 90, and the rest who haven't yet done so.

The only way to fix this now is to make non-abyssea exp almost as good as it is inside.

Or the fix could be posting this topic in the correct forum. :3

This late in the game grinding is kind of pointless. Plus, the people that are not very good have always been there but you could not exp as an alliance before to really notice them.

so many posts about raising the aby cap! honestly i'm sure SE knows about this and it is my belief that they do not care. They want people to get to endgame, they want them to take advantage of new things, so i believe they are turning a blind eye to everyone that leeches aby so they can have more people just pick up the game and join their friends on endgame stuff.

ASA Final was designed so that it was more based on skill than anything, and now that everyone leeches to 90, the need for skill is even higher. If anything, i would like for SE to give us more Race Specific Equipment, so that anyone looking to level naturally can just use the level 1 RSE, a level 20 RSE, the current level 30 RSE, and then 40 and 50 until they hit their AF, then Relic, then Empy armor.

they should also focus on making non race specific armor more in focus, like the abyssea armorlvl78 (teal, pearle, aurore), campaign armor level 68, garrison armor and so forth.

this might not be the best armor out there, but at least it will be available for those not wishing to leech aby

In short I would like to have a reconsideration to the level requirement to the Abyssea areas. In raising the level cap to enter Abyssea, players will become more annoyed than they have ever been, redirecting their focus on those who pushed such a ridiculous idea in the first place.

Fixed that for you.

This is the main reason they'll never do it. It allows people to go and enjoy the new Abyssea content quite easily, it's going to allow us to enjoy the content from now to 99 more easily too. Honestly what do people want? 99 Levels of grinding like we used to do?

No one would complain about having to fight normally if doing that got them 100k/hour anyway. I don't see why they couldn't just do that, at least that's more fun than 10 hours of /item forbidden key <t>.

I don't know how many times i've restarted this game. Personally I've never taken a single character to 75 to even begin with, and this Abyssea patch is pretty much my ticket to endgame..i entered for the first time today at lvl 63..the feeling of uselessness until i reach a higher level is just too much. Skill is definitely the key to pretty much every aspect of this game, beginning and the end. I agree with raising the level cap to keep leeching controlled but i also agree with being able to obtain those higher levels by other means than alliance pt's in CN or Gusgen Mines, and Bostanieux Obliette "did i spell that right?" Valefor server is where i play and everyone has geared towards Abyssea in my eyes. Very hard to level to a point where entering any Abyssea maw feels comfortable. All in all...this game reeked in the beginning ..i'm talking old school...but nowadays i'm much more motivated with everything that's been added..but leeching is not the way to get there. Abyssea makes weak players when they reach high level. I don't care what anyone says.

It's too late at this point to raise the level cap of Abyssea, the damage has been done. Had Abyssea been 70+ from the start, a lot of the game's content would still have meaning. FoV and GoV would have been good alternatives if parties couldn't be found, the economy would still lose most of the crafted gear in the 70-75 range but the 25-70 range would be less affected, etc.

To me, that sounds like it's incentive to get new players to start crafting, so that they can make their own armor. Just like it was back in the day. The only problem is players are going to get so used to 'easy mode' exp that they'll not want to spend the rigorous training and time sink to skill up anything else.

Though there will be some who care.
