View Full Version : Please Consider Allowing Trusts in More Older Battle Content

Hello, FFXI development team.

I am a 19-year-old player who started playing FINAL FANTASY XI in 2026. I have now played around 1,228 hours, which may not sound like much compared with some long-time players, but FFXI has already become one of the games I have played the most on Steam.

Because of my age and the way I prefer to play, it is very difficult for me to find players around my age who I can regularly play with for a long period of time. I really enjoy playing FFXI as a solo player with Trusts, but at the same time, I would also love to experience some of the content that currently cannot be entered with Trusts.

I am very excited about the upcoming Trust Equipment System. Since Trusts are already strong enough to handle the vast majority of content intended for solo play, I was wondering if the development team could consider another possibility as Trusts become stronger:

Could some currently Trust-prohibited content eventually receive a special solo + Trust mode?

I am not necessarily asking for something like Odyssey to be opened to Trusts immediately. I understand that content such as Odyssey is still very important to the current endgame and that allowing Trusts there could have a major impact on the existing economy and party-based gameplay.

Instead, perhaps older content could be considered first.

For example, could older content such as Master Trials have a special version or entrance that allows one player and their Trusts to participate? The rewards could be reduced or otherwise adjusted if necessary, so that this would not interfere with the existing equipment economy or the reasons players form parties for the original content.

For players like me who enjoy FFXI but have difficulty finding a long-term party, this would open up an entirely new part of the game.

I don't want Trusts to replace playing with other people. I simply want Trusts to give players like me a way to experience more of the incredible content that FFXI has accumulated over the years.

If the goal of the new Trust systems is to expand solo play, I would be very happy if this could eventually become part of that vision.

Thank you for continuing to support FFXI.:p

Welcome to the forums!

I might not be the biggest fan of Faith/Trust magic, but at this point I'd not be against this.

That written, is Odyssey really what you were thinking of? It already does allow alter egos (and has some special mechanics for them in place even).

I wouldn't even consider Odyssey old content still indeed... Well, for one, it has some (if not the most?) powerful equipment in it that I have not obtained any of yet (and I've been around since 2005). ^^;

Thinking of actual older content in my mind, I can not think of many that do not allow alter egos. Assault and Salvage come to mind, but at level 99 and up I don't see a need for them there.

Master Trials is something I have never even thought of trying.

Maybe I entered once? I forget. Just not interested I suppose... and I don't really know of anyone who is.

But yeah, in Odyssey they are certainly a thing. Unless I'm dreaming and/or been sent to a different world-line.

Again, welcome, and thank you for sharing your thoughts here!

Ah, you're absolutely right! I completely misunderstood the Trust restrictions in Odyssey. I started playing FFXI fairly recently, and English and Japanese aren't my native languages, so I guess I misunderstood some of the information I found in guides. Thank you for correcting me! What I actually meant was content that currently does not allow Alter Egos at all, with Master Trials being the main example I had in mind.

I don't think they will allow this. Master Trials are very optional, deliberately difficult content meant to challenge players. I don't even think anyone would realistically clear it with trusts- if they did, I think they would sooner make it harder until that doesn't happen.

(side note: I don't know if the community still finds these fights challenging or not, but I know that it was the intention when they were first created).
