This HTBF seems to be aimed at lesser geared players, the drops are lower than most hardcore players would want to obtain since they already have better options.

If this HTBF is aimed at casual players then lower the entry cost to 10 merits, grinding 30 merits for a casual or solo player only to have a low drop rate is not acceptable.

Nobody is doing it, becasue the drop rate is low, the entry cost is high and hardcore players don't want the drops.

The entire point of adding a 30 merit entry fee was the drops were incredibly good, so everyone wanted them. That's not the case here.

Either lower the entry to 10 merits, or add an augment system (maybe via dark matter) to add extra stats so they are more desirable.

Unpopular Opinions:

XI's endgame is a mess. Has been for some time. Very convoluted, compared to the 75 or even Abyssea era.

XIV gets better/ more new XI content than XI these days.

Even content that has good rewards, I cannot bring myself to grind it out. The grind is used to keep us busy. Instead of engaging content, they just keep stacking grinds.

Example: Exp > Merits > JP > Exemplar points.

AF +1 > +2 > +3 > +4,

Etc, etc.........

I am over new content honestly. May go over to my alt account & lvl those toons. I am mostly a crafter & lvling guy atm. So, if ya'll see another account with $hit post, strange sigs, or a bunch of full-stops, yeah....that is me.........

Current XI is waaaay too busy for me. Just the opinion of one man.

It's not messy, there are various paths for various types of players.

One of the reasons XI has a playerbase is becasue it's not like other mmorpgs, if it had set paths then why not just go play world of warcraft or some other one.

The main problem with XI in attracting new players, is the game is just too hard in some places. Odyssey and Sortie being an example, where the solo / casual paths are either far too difficult or are non-existent.
