#1 why is the core concept of the game, that is collecting massive amounts of gear to form different gearsets for every possible priority for every possible class, completely at odds with how it was programmed and the limitations you placed on it???

lets forget for the moment that half the items in the game could have been made key items that dont take up any inventory space....
lets also forget that you littered our character with like 200 different one-time-obtainable cosmetic or otherwise pointless items just from compeleting the storylines and are constantly filling our inventory with useless crap we just need to npc away like geodes and RoE rewards

22 jobs, 16 slots, probably an average of like 10 gearsets per job realistically, but at LEAST 5 gearsets per job (though some jobs can have like 20 different different gearsets), I know there's SOME overlapping equipment, but still,

that's ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY slots.... And that's JUST for EQUIPMENT that you would actually need to USE...

How many are we given???
inventory
Safe
Safe2
storage
locker
sack
case
wardrobe 1
wardrobe 2
80x9=
760 slots....

wtf???
WTAF???
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggg
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(^ still not even have the extra letters as slots we're missing... JUST to account for the BARE MINIMUM of just EQUIPMENT we could be expected to collect...)

How on earth anyone has more than like 3 jobs geared and isn't COMPLETELY out of space is completely beyond me. And no, I will pay money just for you to allocate more 1's and 0's to my inventory space. How about you just give people an adequate amount of space and stop filling it with useless crap all the time???????

I do actually think it would be nice if we could have one or two extra Mog Wardrobes included in our subscription fee.

I would really like it if the Alabaster / Murky Capes were actually as good as ambu capes.

And beyond that, I would love for SE to log every player's equip changes and make a tally for every time a non-item level:119 item is equipped.
Then use that data to figure out why they are still used. Come up with new gear that can be equipped by a large range of jobs and fills the role of the old gear even better.

In another search, find gear that is used, but rarely, and make new items that combine the desired stats of that item with a more used item.

example: Carrier's Sash. Elemental resist+ is still used to this day in gear because regardless of magic evasion, certain resistance tiers cannot be unlocked unless you have positive elemental resistance. As such, change Null Belt's magic evasion +30 to All Elemental Resist +30 instead.

some examples of single stat's sought from non-iLv equipment still used because nothing compares: Aquaveil+, Spell Interruption rate down, Trial of the Magians TP Bonus +1000 weapons, skill+5 belts, movement speed+18 on various jobs NOT tied to weapon slot, a rank 1 prize, or a specific choice of Seeker's of Adoulin reward.

#1 why is the core concept of the game, that is collecting massive amounts of gear to form different gearsets for every possible priority for every possible class, completely at odds with how it was programmed and the limitations you placed on it???It's less "limitations placed on it" and more "limitations of the era it was made in." The reason why they can't simply make the bags bigger or keep adding more of them has to do with data transfer more than anything else. You may have already noticed that inventory loading upon area change takes so long nowadays that they split it into a two step process. Adding more/bigger bags will make this transfer time even longer and is due to the game being built and designed in the era of dialup internet. Thus the packets were designed to be a certain size and the game expects them to be like that, to accomodate the slow connections that were common at the time. The devs have previously discussed this and said they can't simply make the game send data faster, it would be non-trivial to implement.

But frankly I think posts like this make the isssue out to be far worse than it is. I have no paid wardrobes and 1 alt that I very rarely use (it usually isn't activated). I can play a few jobs to their potential and more casually play several more with this. You should not, nor be expected to, play every single job to maximum capacity at all times. But you also need to remember that you don't have to perfectly optimize every job you play and in some cases the difference between an optimized job and one that's just okay is not a lot and bending over for every single gear piece that would make your job perfect is not only not worth doing but entirely unnecessary.

Granted, my wardrobes are mostly full with the 3-4 jobs that I play, but there is also gear in them for jobs I haven't fully leveled yet (i.e. lower level stuff) that, in retrospect, I don't really need to keep as trusts are just really strong at low levels and I don't really need to try in order to level them up.

If you do want to play every job to its maximum capacity, sure, it is a real issue. But I think the majority of people that do that are multiboxing and have the jobs on seperate characters and therefore have their own inventories.

Personally my opinion has been for a very long time that a lot of players keep too much junk for the incredibly off chance they will actually need it some time in the future. For cases where that's actually a real situation, that's what we have the storage slips (and event storage) for- gear you aren't really using but don't want to throw away. People keep too much random junk from monsters, which you do seem to have recognized. Just vendor that trash, it is mostly just meant to be sold to vendors for money.

One thing I can suggest is, for anyone who might be doing what I used to do. Just get rid of your leveling gear unless you have a really good reason not to. From now on whenever I want to level a job, I just keep the sparks gear in my actual inventory while I do it. Then I get rid of it once I'm done.

So much freed space in both Mog Wardrobes! I only play White Mage and, much less seriously, Dancer. Now Wardrobe 1 is filled about 60/80, and 2 sitting nicely at 74/80. Probably could get rid of more in them, but I've no reason to for now.

Today we go against the MMO hoarder mentality. And prevail!

last several times i leveled a job solo with trusts i did it either naked or with a random lv.1 weapon the job could equip.
Trusts don't reduce the solo EXP & 5 trusts can obliterate everything lv.1~98. Even 4+kupofried makes leveling easy.

I have so much gear I actively use for the jobs I play that I have 7 full wardrobes, 8th is partially used, and I have to sift through slips every time I job change.
I could certainly tone it down ~some~ by not optimizing my jobs as heavily. like getting rid of my aquaveil+ gear or not having separate free nuke & magic burst sets for my mages, but it's incredible how much gear I actually use across 10+ jobs (how many do i have geared now, i don't even know)

Yup especially now that you can strengthen trusts. I just tried out improved trusts for the first time tonight while leveling with a friend who just started playing.
We literally just had to sic Val, Prishe, and Shantotto on them and enjoy the carnage :p

Regarding your wardrobes, wow that's impressive. How many jobs do you play?

Alter Ego Points don't apply below lv99. Just as clarification. Trusts are still very strong below lv99 anyway, but just be aware that your alter ego points won't benefit you while leveling up a job before job points / master levels.

The stat gains granted by alter ego points are equivalent to those granted by master levels (+50 attributes, +250 HP +100 MP +50 combat and magic skills), minus the extra stats from the bonus subjob levels, which they don't (currently) receive. So theoretically, alter egos should perform mostly on par (in a relative sense) with a master leveled job as they did before alter ego points on a non-master leveled job.
(one perk here is alter ego stat bonuses are not limited by your master level, so if you havent gained MLs on job, alter egos will actually be a bit stronger rather than simply keeping up)

Oh, that was some serious placebo effect! Dang I'd completely forgot how strong they were then haha. Thank you, Alhanelem!

One of the caveats of allowing players play every class, on one toon lol. Could you imagine if/when they release new classes?
https://i.imgur.com/Wv9808F.jpeg

I am the king of unpopular opinions around these parts.......Not a fan of one toon having access to every job. Not in an MMO however.

XI would make more money if it used the standard one class per toon. That leaves subclasses in the dark though.

Not advocating they change this btw; that is a whole can of worms. What is done is done.

I digress......

It would be nice to have more wardrobes, but it already takes ~1 minute for your inventory to load in each zone.

One possibly solution is for SE to give us 1000 inventory slots in the Mog Garden (only) and we could virtually choose all of the gear wanted to actually pull out of storage slips and then shuffle our gear in one session (i.e. 80 inventory slots at time, using the 1,000 as a free, work area). This would allow us to keep just equipment, food, items only in our Safe1/2/Satchel/Case/Sack/Wardrobe1-8.

So, 1000 slots in the mog garden for all of the miscellaneous items that don't pertain to actually PLAYING our job(s). This would allow us to free up our current containers for just what jobs we want to play.

Does this make sense? (Yes it would make the mog garden load even slower).

Ooh, maybe not even in the Mog Garden. To save on inventory loading time, I wonder if they could make it so you could just open the entire Porter Storage when talking to the Porter Moogles. Basically, no need to carry the slips anymore, just show you all the items you've stored with them. That would be soooo nice..

But I'm no expert. I don't know if that would add another inventory to load whenever you zone even if there are no Porter Moogles in the area
