I am just coming back to the game with great enthusiasm, then I just learned that last May, basically right after I took a break last time, every character in the game was given a kupon for a free mog bonanza weapon.

Knowing I've missed this opportunity makes me want to quit again instantly.

Is there ANY CHANCE at all that there could be an accommodation made for characters that missed that campaign to receive a mog bonanza weapon kupon??? I've been subscribed off and on for almost twenty years, and because I miss a particular month I miss out on being given the chance to try the most GAME CHANGING ITEMS EVER RELEASED THAT ARE COMPLETELY UNFEASIBLE TO OBTAIN OTHERWISE COMPLETELY FOR FREE????

Words are not capable of adequately describing how disappointing this was to realize. I want to continue playing the game, but knowing that essentially the most powerful game breaking items in the game were literally just given away for FREE to every single player in the game that I will NEVER obtain is just too much to accept.

Could someone please, please, PLEASE lobby someone at the company to give characters that were created prior to last May a weapon kupon when they log in again if they missed it last May?

Knowing I've missed this opportunity makes me want to quit again instantly.I mean, if you kept a consistent subscription you wouldn't have missed it. But doing it once doesn't mean they won't do it again. If you 're not comitted to playing you probably should just quit now if FOMO stung that hard.

Sorry if that sounds cold but the whole point of all these campaigns, events, giveaways, etc. is to keep people active in the game. And these things are done because in large part, they work.

Also these things aren't really that "game breaking" and are still obtainable by other means.

I can promise you that if I were to have missed this, it wouldn't have been a "rage quit" reaction, it would have been an "oh well, maybe next time." Heck if you asked and I could give them i'd probably have been happy to give you mine as none of the available options really did much of anything for me as a SMN main (that's how not-game-breaking they are for me)

I'm sure someone will "lobby" with you and I'm sure I'll get hate for this comment, but if you want free stuff, stay subbed and stay active. In my opinion it's not reasonable to demand that they retroactively give you givewaways that happened literally up to a year ago.

I can also add that many of the weapons you can get, not too hard to either, can serve you just as well in mid and late game content! :D
I chose the White Mage staff, because that's my main job. For 800 Domain Points (DP), I could get a Griavolr, and it'd be Just Fineā„¢ in many situations ^^
In fact, many other weapons are much better suited for specific types of spells. Another 800 DP weapon, the Gada, is much better at enhancing my enfeebling and, well, enhancing magic.

I'm realy sorry that you missed it, don't get me wrong. I know that must feel so frustrating. But I'm sure it'll come around again before you know it, and until then, don't worry too much about using so-called lesser weapons. There's a lot of options that won't hold you back. At least not too much!

Regardless of how you may feel about someone's personal feelings over missing out on something, it just seems like a very basic competency question of actually fulfilling the intended desire of the point of the giveaway in the first place.

Did they want to give every single player whose supported the game up to that point something ? Or did they JUST want to give every single player that logged on at least once from the period of May - June 2025 (or whatever dates it was) something???? Do you feel entitled to something because you were logged in to May as opposed to April? Because I only feel entitled to something because
it was basically given out to every other person who played the game except me. (in this game that, whether I like it or not, my character exists in a landscape of relative power compared to other players that absolutely has potential real repercussions on group incentivization which can and will lead to very different outcomes of long term character progression)

What about someone who may have logged on just ONE day too after the campaign ended, you would argue they don't deserve something, than someone who logged on just a day before does??

I believe there was no minimum subscription period for it or anything too, right, so absolutely brand new players would have gotten it? Wasn't the point to reward people who supported the game??? Wouldn't someone whose payed 10+ years of subscriptions have supported the game far more than brand new players or people that have been subscribed for less periods of time? And yet you're rewarding THEM and NOT the longer time subscriber just because they didn't log on during some random arbitrary period of time??? It's just absolutely baffling if you really think about it. How can you rationalize that?

It would be an absolutely trivial implementation choice, just make it like destrier beret or any other one time item characters pick up from a moogle, instead of a kupon from a log-on event.

I mean, if you kept a consistent subscription you wouldn't have missed it.

I don't, and did not miss it. If you are someone who checks Playonline news every other month you would not have missed it. If you are mildly into XI news and events you would not have missed it.

I do not keep an active sub (I don't feel it is worth if for a XI vet), but is moderately in tune with XI news. My advice to ppl would be to check Playonline every now and then for events.

To the OP, It will come around again imo. If it makes you feel better, I still use other weapons over mines........Really don't see many on my server using those tbh........It is a flex for the most part. How much of a flex when you got it for free though?

Don't unironically tell people they have to now camp FFXI news in real life, like the ultimate NM camp. Because what, the 3-5 real life day NM's weren't enough, now lets ask players to camp company news for the rest of their life just in case we decide to just randomly (and TEMPORARILY) giveaway gamebreaking and otherwise unattainable items again???

It's crazy the first comment that's getting thumbs up is basically the one telling me to gtfo and cry harder noob, like wth is wrong with you people, it wouldn't make any difference to you, and your first compulsion upon seeing someone asking for something they missed out on is to tell them too bad and to shove it

Again it's just a very basic question of COMPETENCY of fulfilling the spirit of the intention of the giveaway.
Let me just get this straight, do any of you think this was the INTENTION of the spirit of the giveaway:
Person A has subscribed to the game for 10+ years and payed full price for expansions when they came out, they don't log in for a single particular month, then log in again at some point after that, SHOULDN'T get something
but Person B that just bought the entire game just before a particular month and has been subscribed for a single month, SHOULD get something???

Heck, people didn't even need to actually subscribe OR buy the game to get it right??? People could have been on a completely free trial and would have gotten it???

I disagree with your other point. Even though I'm not entirely consistent (falling in and out of love here and there) I am subbed fairly regularly and like you I do keep a finger on the XI news pulse. What is "worth it" is in the eye of the beholder.
