[dev1013] Introduction of Synergy Augments
• After the synergy process is complete, players will have the chance to confirm the potential augments and choose whether to implement or abandon them.
If the augments are implemented, the equipment's statistics will be overwritten.
If the augments are not implemented, the equipment's statistics will remain in their existing state.
Augments that have been added through Synergy can be removed.
The closer the elemental balance is to an ideal state, the more augments can be added.
Recipes may be obtained by speaking with the Synergy Engineer NPCs stationed next to synergy furnaces.
Crafting skills are not required.
• The first installment of Synergy augments added in the upcoming version update will affect the following items:
Genbu's Shield / Genbu's Kabuto / Suzaku's Scythe / Suzaku's Sune-Ate / Seiryu's Sword / Seiryu's Kote / Byakko's Axe / Byakko's Haidate / Kirin's Pole / Kirin's Osode / Hecatomb Cap / Hecatomb Harness / Hecatomb Mittens / Hecatomb Subligar / Hecatomb Leggings / Hecatomb Cap +1 / Hecatomb Harness +1 / Hecatomb Mittens +1 / Hecatomb Subligar +1 / Hecatomb Leggings +1 / Koenig Schaller / Koenig Cuirass / Koenig Handschuhs / Koenig Diechlings / Koenig Schuhs / Kaiser Schaller / Kaiser Cuirass / Kaiser Handschuhs / Kaiser Diechlings / Kaiser Schuhs / Adaman Celata / Adaman Hauberk / Adaman Mufflers / Adaman Breeches / Adaman Sollerets / Armada Celata / Armada Hauberk / Armada Mufflers / Armada Breeches / Armada Sollerets / Shura Zunari Kabuto / Shura Togi / Shura Kote / Shura Haidate / Shura Sune-Ate / Shura Zunari Kabuto +1 / Shura Togi +1 / Shura Kote +1 / Shura Haidate +1 / Shura Sune-Ate +1 / Zenith Crown / Dalmatica / Zenith Mitts / Zenith Slacks / Zenith Pumps / Zenith Crown +1 / Dalmatica +1 / Zenith Mitts +1 / Zenith Slacks +1 / Zenith Pumps +1 / Crimson Mask / Crimson Scale Mail / Crimson Finger Gauntlets / Crimson Cuisses / Crimson Greaves / Blood Mask / Blood Scale Mail / Blood Finger Gauntlets / Blood Cuisses / Blood Greaves / Shadow Helm / Shadow Breastplate / Shadow Gauntlets / Shadow Cuishes / Shadow Sabatons / Valkyrie's Helm / Valkyrie's Breastplate / Valkyrie's Gauntlets / Valkyrie's Cuishes / Valkyrie's Sabatons / Shadow Hat / Shadow Coat / Shadow Cuffs / Shadow Trews / Shadow Clogs / Valkyrie's Hat / Valkyrie's Coat / Valkyrie's Cuffs / Valkyrie's Trews / Valkyrie's Clogs

**When you say, stats will be "overwritten," Do you mean augmented stats or the stats already in place on the item? Just checking.

I agree that it's somewhat confusingly worded, but have some Copypasta from the item forum:
I'm fairly sure that's not correct. They probably mean that you can re-write the augmented stats and replace them as many times as you want.
Here is the system as they're describing it:
1) You synergize some kind of augment for some kind of armor, which is capable of replacing any current augments on the armor.
2) You're given a dialogue that says, "Would you rather have this augment than the current one?"
3) You choose yes or no, and either implement the new augment or not.
4) If you don't like any of your augments, you're capable of removing them so you can store the piece with the porter moogles again.

It's SE. Like I said, just checking. I'm guessing it's related to the augment as well, but you never know...
Previous twitter pictures confirm it's simple augments placed onto the gear. Stuff we've been seeing for awhile now.

My guess is Statistics, They mean the Old Augments if you augment it twice.
I dislike the terrible clarity in the words. but i can assume they dont mean the entire thing will be rewritten.

Anyone else feel that old gear should stay old and obsolete?

Nope! Obsolete gear is dumb and I've been looking for an excuse to drag my friends up to Sky. Are you trolling?

Do you feel that your AF1 should be upgradable to be competitive with your Emp. Armor? What makes sky gear so different, the amount of time people spent there?

Seems pretty weird to me, make a ton of new gear which is better then say hey let's get them to use their old ass 75 gear.
Also not impressed with the no salvage upgrades.

This is the first Installment. Probably add Salvage gear later.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure they said this Armor was going to be upgradeable, but not beating Empyrean+2 Armor. That being said, I have a feeling some of the armor might become decent WS Gear. I don't think the Augments will be game-breaking enough to completely replace our current gear.

As a synergist, I am happy about this update and can't wait for it to be on game. My craft was always useless and not required, but now I'll finally be able to help my friends upgrade their armor!
And no I don't think SE had a bad idea, they are not trying to make AF3+2 obsolete. More like, they are trying to make happy all those people who have been doing endgame for the past years and that have been thrown off at how all their so hard work to attain that gear had been destroyed by new, relatively easy to get armor. I haven't been on endgame much, but I was bummed to retire some armor like byakko's haidate or askar zucchetto for... full perle. It made me look like 60% of the DDs around and I felt less individual. So yay for this update and I hope salvage/assault armor is soon added too! I'd love to see people into Assault again!^^

I'm disappointed that it is Synergy only. Other craftskills are languishing into obscurity, at this point.

Have you seen the stats on most of the AF1 gear out there?
Take WAR for example.....just take it, please.
SMN also. Only legs and horn were "ok" for those levels. Feet only when you upgraded it to AF1+1.
Anyone wearing SMN body and gloves should be shot for humanity's sake.

In any other game this would be a stupid question.
But this is flip-fangle-floppidy-floo SE we are talking about, and we are playing FFXI the game that makes no sense.
Good thing you asked to be honest.
I had to use Flander's speak, so they wouldn't get upset, cry, and delete my post again. :|

Nope. Sky gear and abjurations are very different than AF. Guessing you haven't played that long. I have old gear and new gear. S/E said it is continuing the practice of situational gear. So, suck it up. You may now need to do old content if you want certain gear with certain stats.
p.s. - You're just as bad as the old players who whine about all the new gear.

At the same time it seems pretty weird to have gear thats so much harder to obtain but fails in comparison of new gear. Some of us old school players have had stuff like Zenith, Crimson, ect. for years and right now they're just taking up inventory unless they tossed them.

I think it has alot to do with the way Synergy works, you can't trade R/EX gear and synergy prevents people from just getting the craft mats from you and logging.

Mechanically, the same interface one would use for Synergy could be applied towards other craft skills.

In a nutshell you have a crucible KI that's tied to your character. It has elements stored in it that are used for fuel which you can refill yourself or pay an npc to do for you. You can place your crucible into any furnace. Once in a furnance you can either trade fuel to refil it yourself (fewells) or you could trade ingredients. Once you start a synth you basically feed it fewell of a certain element to try to match the target numbers. For example if your target number is (fire 10) you spam the feed fewell command for fire until you get as close as you can to (fire 10) before clicking to finish the synth. It doesn't have to be dead on but if it is you have a higher chance of HQ'ing.
There are alot of complications that can arise and it's alot more intuitive than in the simplified explanation I gave. To answer your question though, no you can never lose your ingredients. A method to skill up synergy fast involves taking a high lv recipe and purposely spamming fewell feeds till you fail since every action you take in synergy has a chance of a skill up. Hell you could trade ingredients to the furnace, fail the synth, log out, come back 3 days later, and you would still get your items back by clicking on any furnace again.

I leveled synergy to 70 soley to try out this update. I was untrusting at first and tried every possible way to lose my items. It can't be done. I kind of wish I could do that with goldsmithing, but that would be a little too easy.

Why am I not surprised that none of these items in the list are Summoner equipment? Not like the augments would ever be Summoner oriented anyway. But perhaps if I keep pointing these things out at this forum for a year or two, SE will realize they forget Summoner every single update when it comes to "general improvements".

At least Summoner can wear Zenith gear. Scholar and Dancer can't use this system at all (well, Scholar can wear Genbu's shield).

They are adding sky gear, salvage gear, nyzul gear, and relic equipment (possibly more) to the list of augmentable items. Go through their twitter feed. They're just not adding all the recipes in one update. Summoner will get some goodies, just the amount of equipment to be added is too much to be included in one go.

That's how things work when you increase the level cap though, new things come which are better it's SEs fault everything is so easy to obtain. The difficulty of getting items is now much different due to the level cap and adjustments to some endgame events.
P.s. I am not a new player, I certainly have fond memories getting wlegs and the such, but I'm also a player who sees something that's an upgrade and I go for it regardless of time/difficulty to get this or these items.
