I have been trying to log on for hours after I was disconnected. The server lag is so bad. Why don’t you open up free server change so we can get out of this. Least I would be able to log
In on a dead server.

if you have an active 1$ mule you can typically force the server error to self correct.
definitely an issue though, and should get fixed.

The solution is changing IP for one log in, not logging in a mule

Hotspot the phone, log in, log out, go back to normal

There seems to be some kind of temporary but rage-inducing technical issue going on right now.

I wonder if this is related to FFXIV's patch day stuff? Probably an influx of players - though I wasn't aware the services interacted so maybe I'm wrong!

Hope it has resolved for you, best of luck

I can get on but it doesn’t solve the crazy lag. I could be in an empty zone pinging 2k.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XI Technical Support Forums!

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced while attempting to play FINAL FANTASY XI. The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data.

Most of the time this occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc.

Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference before attempting to log in.

Once your PC has been restarted, right-click the FINAL FANTASY XI launcher icon once more and select “Run as Administrator.” This option can also be set permanently by Right-Clicking on the FINAL FANTASY XI launcher icon, selecting Properties, then under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says “Run this program as an administrator” and clicking OK.

If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, there may be a communication error.

If you are receiving the error FFXI - 3113 - Protocol Timeout Error, ensure that Client for Microsoft Networks is installed in your Windows network properties. If it is installed, you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:

TCP: 25, 80, 110, 443 and 50000 - 65535
UDP: 53 and 50000 - 65535

*You may learn how to do this by visiting http://www.portforward.com/
Find your specific router's brand and model number from the 'List of Routers' and you will be provided a step-by-step guide on how to access these port settings.
Otherwise, your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

If you have properly configured your router, and you are still experiencing these issues, our next suggestion is to bypass the router, and connect your computer directly to your modem. Please ensure that you power down both the modem and the computer for at least five minutes before attempting to connect to FINAL FANTASY XI.

Note that Proxy servers and satellite connections do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.

If you continue to receive these same errors when you are connected directly to the modem, then the problem lies with your ISP. We would recommend contacting your provider and advising them that one or more of the ports previously provided to you are being blocked or filtered, and that you do need access on these ports.

Just FYI those numbers in the top right aren't ping. For one, ping measures time going in both directions already, so having separate Send and Receive values wouldn't make sense. Those values relate to the amount of data being transferred, not latency.

Final Fantasy XI could certainly be running on one or more of them, too, and it might be worth a test still, but I do wonder if it will be helpful in the end...

From memory they do definitely look different from what I've seen for FFXI, but I don't claim my memory to be too reliable, though sometimes the error correction does kick in. :]

I've posted some of the FFXI and PlayOnline specifically related IPs in the topic:

Error Code: FFXI - 3101

Also in another one that might be about the same root cause:

Error 3101 is keeping me out of the game. I just came back after a year.

In the end, I do suspect this is one of those temporary-like issues that are outside of SqEX's control (some other company betwixt the user and the servers), but I could be very wrong, too.

Best of luck in any case +11!

Thats because Yoshi-p in a move to keep CI operating costs down, migrated XI servers to be logical servers on the FFXIV infrastructure, so essentially 11 servers are virtual in the 14 databanks

You literally have no idea what you're talking about.

The FFXI servers are their own servers and aren't connected to the XIV servers in any way. They're also only in Japan, whereas XIV has servers in different regions.

"Logical dacenters" as the term used in FFXIV, refers to the seperate groups of servers that are actually within the same physical datacenter.

Although it is entirely possible that XI's servers are hosted in the same JP datacenter as the XIV servers, this is incredibly unlikely as the XI servers have been in the same location for decades while SE and that dacenter was probably at capacity long before XIV was even established. They are not "virtual servers in the XIV databanks." you're speaking gibberish, "databank" isn't even a real term in this context. The XI servers run on their own server machines. They provably have IP addresses different enough to not be within the same physical network.

Please stop spreading this kind of misinformation.

What IS true is that the same support staff handles GM calls, technical support, and the forums for both games. But this has nothing to do with the game servers whatsoever.
