Hopefully, I can find some resolution here before I submit a ticket with SE. I just installed POL and FFXI, but when it comes to updating the files in POL at the end, I get "Error Code: 1155." There isn't anything else attached to it. I've tried uninstalling and restarting my computer. I've made sure it's run as administrator.

errors during updating are pretty unusual. Stupid sanity check: You do have enough free space where the game is installed right?

Yes I do I made sure I put both POL and FFXI into my F: folder which has 400GB free
*Edit* Installed into my F: Folder
I should also clarify that the error shows up after it's done checking the files.

Do you have any .dat swaps or any other third party stuff in use?
Try doing a file check at the playonline main menu, and then if that doesn't find anything, open the FFXI config tool and activate the file check from there (it's not the same) and see if any of these help you get past it. The dialog message does call it a communication error, so it could be you have ports blocked that POL needs open.
Make sure the game is being allowed through your router's firewall and/or your security software. The game and POL need these ports open:
TCP: 25, 80, 110, 443, 50000–65535
UDP: 50000–65535
Also UDP port 53 is used but isn't essential.

No dat swaps or anything like that this is a complete fresh install and I could try opening ports for it I've not done any port forwarding.

I updated the post with the ports the game needs which I didn't know offhand.
(It's also possible that the update server went down for some reason and it could be a temporary issue)

Still getting the problem
**Update**: So I uninstalled everything again and also removed the folder it created so far it's working, hopefully I run into no issues updating FFXI
Thanks again for your help Alhanelem
