I just wanted to say thank you to Sicyre and the rest of the Community Rep team for putting together such a smooth rendition for yesterday's Primed for Adventure.
The new studio looks great, and the sound and video quality was perfect. I also enjoyed the FFXI-themed music while waiting for the stream to start and thought the experience was quite pleasant.
It also was a nice surprise to be greeted by Fujito-san while he answered our questions with a live translator too!
While many of the answers were not what I personally wanted to hear, Fujito's message to tune in to the Anniversary event on May 16th, was not lost on me.
I'm grateful to still be playing FFXI in 2026 and will remain hopeful for the future, as well.
-a forever loyal, FFXI Optimist. :)

Hear! It was such a pleasant stream to watch :)
I hope they can mirror archived streams on YouTube in the future!
Gwydion, out of curiosity, were there any particular answers that you'd hoped to hear something else from?

Thank you so much for asking! I know that a lot of players ask for "more, more, more!" ...but I wasn't very interested in that. I was hoping that Director Fujito would have acknowledged:
The quality of English translations in 2025-2026 has taken a noticeable drop. The player community has been pretty faithful in reporting translation errors (dialog, item names, etc), so it was surprising to hear Director Fujito simply say to post errors in the "In-game bug" forums and that "an email would make it's way to the Dev Team". The question already posed that the forum responses are too slow and that an email to the Dev Team is not sufficient in 2026. (If POL is getting modernized in 2026, then why not let us submit Localization Errors through the in-game client?)
A question was asked about the possibility of future Alter-Ego Enhancing Equipment including Pet Stats. The question was either dismissed or misunderstood by Director Fujito. Pet Job players must accept weaker pets when wearing themed armor sets because Pet Stats are often excluded by default. (I think players would be pleasantly surprised to see "Pet: Same Effect" on these Armor sets, for once.
I also posed a question about cheating in Sortie (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/63909-A-Special-Episode-of-Primed-for-Adventure-is-coming-March-25%21?p=673207&viewfull=1#post673207), and some ideas to reduce the social pressure that currently exists in end-game content. This wasn't addressed at all.
SE has a lot of power to mold how we feel about the company, it's IP/franchises and whether or not future generations will play their games. It's very clear that both players and the Community Team are passionate about FFXI, but the NA Community Team is spread thin, and yet still put 110% effort in all of their high-quality interactions with us. At the very least, I do want to thank them for continuing to invest in FFXI. So again, thanks for the increasing interactions from the community team, and surprise events in FFXI, which have all been a blast and received positively by myself and other friends. I would hate for Director Fujito to lose this momentum, but who knows will be revealed in May?

I can see why SE might not want to accept submissions from players directly to the Dev team, it might generate a lot of noise, so it would still have to be approved by a Community person to make sure it's not spammed by a malicious person. (We know the STF report page is currently spammed by someone on these forums). Sometimes useful information is posted that is helpful. Someone shared these suggestions in the BGwiki discord server that might make Limbus more enjoyable, by comparing some features to existing content:
Have the ability to automatically go up in Limbus, like Nyzule Isle floors.
Simpler menu options like in Omen
Visual cue when objective is complete like Omen cards or Nyzule Lamp lighting up.
That Temporary Item tracking is frustrating.
I thought this was insightful.

I haven't been playing much Limbus, because it's actually very boring to me. The improvements you shared make a lot of sense. I wonder if other players agree as much? Someone else told me they treat Limbus like a speed run....but I just don't find Limbus fun at all. I think if Limbus borrowed some of those convenience features you mentioned, it would be better / more tolerable.
You also bring up a good point that I hadn't considered. If we had an in-game command to report translation errors, it could be abused. There has to be a way to make the workflow faster perhaps? Even if we have to wait until a monthly update, that is to be expected. I just wish our submissions could be acknowledged in a more timely manner.
I also think Sortie cheating needs to be addressed or some form of gil-sink or some change to make the cheating moot. It's certainly a challenging problem to solve.

I guess you didn't notice the voice meters going up and down. I wouldn't say it was perfect, passable sure.
I hope we'll get more of these in the future though.

you mean audio quality was low for you? Strange. Well, I guess it could have been a little louder, but I found it to be acceptable.

Audio quality was fine, the volume just kept changing.

Gwydion, thank you so much for elaborating for me.
I just wanted to let you know that I saw your response, but I couldn't afford to play for a while and was locked out from accessing the forums. I'm glad that we seem to agree on these issues.
Though, if I remember correctly, the live stream was going to focus mostly on other matters such as the Alter Ego points system. So that might be why a lot of these questions weren't acknowledged. Nevertheless I can see you've played this game for a long time, and appreciate the experienced insight you provide.

I agree. It's really nice to see how engaged the community team is with us lately. It's refreshing! I also hope that Director Fujito will continue to enable the team to release more cool updates, like the ones we are getting lately. In fact, he said they want to look at PlayOnline and modernising it a bit. Not sure what exactly, but I'm guessing behind-the-scenes infrastructure. Still, that can go a long way and I'm glad he and the rest of the team have finally decided to do something about it.
Personally, I'd love if they just replaced PlayOnline Viewer with a simple launcher.. I know for sure it's possible :)
(Just make sure it still has the music, hehe)
He definitely has increased the momentum of Final Fantasy 11 in terms of updates and modernisation where possible. I'm confident he'll keep doing great things for Vana'diel.

They still seem surprised the game has lasted till its 24th year, when almost every old mmorpg does this.
Not only do XI players expect the game to last till its 30th anniversary, they expect it to last till it's 40th and on.
They seem shocked to reach every anniversary, when the players expectations are that the game will "always" be there.

'Twas supposedly specifically and singularly about the March 2026 Version Update.

I wish they don't, because I use the PlayOnline friend system quite a bit while not in the actual game (can even be used wile unsubscribed).
Yeah, maybe I am the only one at this point... but yeah.
Suppose an alternative path could work for everyone, such as an option in the viewer's account settings that launches FFXI straight up after logging in, skipping the viewer's other parts.

You're in the minority. PlayOnline was supposed to be an online portal for SquareEnix games whenever was trying to create their own social media center in the earlier 2000's. SE never created anything beyond FFXI and Tetramaster. Also POL's friend list has a crazy amount of limitations (maximum number of friends, message length limit, etc) ..because it is still supported by Dial Up.

PlayOnline also supported Front Mission Online.

I empathise with this, I use it too as I can't always keep a recurring subscription. But I don't think that functionality has to go entirely! PlayOnline Plus is still a thing, and I don't see why a launcher leveraging modern technology such as Qt, wxWidgets, or even if I'm not a big fan of it, Electron, could provide the same functionality.
Currently, PlayOnline Viewer uses DirectX 7. Or, DirectDraw to be precise, haha. Either way it's one of the reasons it's so slow and doesn't work well with modern graphics hardware. While it looks and sounds cool, there's a lot of fluff that isn't really necessary just to host this single game. When it was a multi-game launcher, it was more understandable.
Primarily though and like Gwydion said, the software (and server I'm sure) must be tweaked to allow for more bandwidth during downloads. I think that'd have the biggest impact.

This would be great! Also you're not the only one. One of my best friends really appreciates the look & feel of PlayOnline Viewer. Honestly, I get it ;)
