View Full Version : Why I'm "quitting" once again.

First off:
Yes I know you and Square-Enix don't care.
I care, that is why I'm posting, its called feedback. The purpose of the forums.
Secondly:
I have 100-200$ a month gaming budget, and 40-60 hours a week to game.
Because I'm a gamer.
I work a full time job, and live a clean simple life, ... again because I'm a gamer.
Finally, I genuinely hate Nyzul.
I've already made 1 mythic, and need like 2-3 more per person in my "static" to progress.
Its easier just to try to win Mog Bonanza (basically just means I'm quitting because its not a viable option.)
Maiden of the Dusk drop rate is low.
My static has about 9/15 or so, and I decided its "easier" to do Very easy and get maximum Treasure Hunter, than it is to risk deaths (which causes a loss of Exemplar) for just a small percent increase. Better to never die, and never have to go farm exemplar than to risk it.
So yeah, honestly its better to just not play this game and go play FF14, which is an even worse game, but at least it isn't stressful.
(Nyzul genuinely stresses me out, I hate it, it is a massive waste of time, it has literally no rewards, yet I'm forced to do it another 950 hours just to progress.)
It is just "easier" or more wise to pretend I'll win Mog Bonanza. Basically its easier to just quit.
Square-Enix is only interested in new players anyway, and I'm a veteran, they don't want my money so bye bye.
I'll probably come back when I retire, or get sick of how bad FF14 is. If Square-Enix and FFXI is even still around by then.

You could have at least bothered to make this feedback constructive. Instead of saying what you dislike/hate, maybe share what you want to see fixed/changed?
You have a decent size gaming budget and plenty of time game each week. So, what's the problem here?
You dislike nyzule isle? So, you want the mythic grind to be shorter?
You dislike that mythics are perceived as necessary for end game content? (Yes, some are)
You call yourself a veteran and complain that SE only caters to new players? But you're complaining about making your second mythic?
Malignance drop rates are low on VE? What's the connection here? What is stopping you from playing?
My two cents: I'm in the minority but I love Nyzule Isle because it requires you to think about objectives and even the highest DPS doesn't automatically get you the fastest clears or the most tokens. I certainly would like to see it used more often or even an item level version.
My suggestion: Reread your original post, and just say what you want to see fixed/changed. Otherwise, don't let the door hit your bum on the way out?

Agreed, constructive criticism should lauded while criticism alone ... take a guess.
Relics Mythics and Empyrean weapons could honestly be rank 3 prizes by now. You can't mule them, so handing out 0.2 per character twice a year is fine.
I can easily farm multiple mythics a year basically only complaining while I grind Nyzul Isle if I feel the need.
Want to make Nyzul less hell? Remove "Order Lamps" from it, or if that isn't possible without spending more Dev time than it's worth, restrict it to only 3 lamps. Can simultaneously make "Same Time" a bit faster by removing that objective's access to more than 3 lamps as well.
Can also suggest adding Nyzul Isle's Tokens to the list of accepted sparks vendor copper voucher convertible currencies.
Malignance drop rates?! They just threw you a bone, and VE just means you aren't trying. E is quite simple to pull off. I farmed 4/5 of my malignance on Easy spam on RDM. Fight Lilith until she spawns the first fetter, then melee that fetter with enspell on for a perma-100% fetter to build TP on while you <lastst> WS Lilith to death. Only need to worry about dread spikes for the first 1~3 skills she uses before you can change target after which the fight is without worries.
Also in line with Nyzul Isle: Please make movement speed increases NOT wear off by any action on/by you. It'd help us clear more floors per entry thus reducing the number hours each mythic takes.

Yes I know you and Square-Enix don't care. If you are so sure nobody else cares, why waste your time posting?
You said "because feedback." This statement runs counter to your first: that SE (and anyone else) doesn't care. If they didn't care, they wouldn't take in your feedback. So again, the question is why bother posting?
I've already made 1 mythic, and need like 2-3 more per person in my "static" to progress. You don't "need" mythics (or any similar such items i.e. relic empyrean prime etc) to do anything. It is players that decided they needed these things, not the game. Unless you can cite a content that is literally impossible without whichever Mythic you're referring to? I don't know any content where you absolutely cannot progress without a bunch of REMA weapons.
You also don't have to play every single job and obtain every mega weapon for every job. That's something you're imposing on yourself.
My two cents: I'm in the minority but I love Nyzule Isle because it requires you to think about objectives and even the highest DPS doesn't automatically get you the fastest clears or the most tokens. I certainly would like to see it used more often or even an item level version.
It might surprise you that I am in this camp and agree with you. It is the very characteristics some people cite as the reason they hate it that I enjoy it. It's never quite the same each time you do it, and it's for the same reason that I enjoy FFXIV's relatively similar Deep Dungeons.
Also in line with Nyzul Isle: Please make movement speed increases NOT wear off by any action on/by you. It'd help us clear more floors per entry thus reducing the number hours each mythic takes. I can cheat this a little bit on SMN as I can put the pet on the weak monsters and not lose my speed buff. :D

You don’t “need” to get a mythic when you can make an Ambuscade weapon for a fraction of the time and effort and they are stronger when maxed out with a Pulse w.

that depends which job the mythic weapon is for.
WHM PLD BST BRD SMN BLU COR GEO RUN all REALLY like their mythic/ergon weapons.
PUP used to be on that list too until SU5, now honestly is there a need to make it at all?

I've been playing SMN just fine for its entire existence without a mythic (though I do have the relic). Most of the time I'm wanted it's primarily for buffs which really don't care that much about stats and levels. And even then, I think the benefits of Nirvana are significantly overstated. I'm not sure why WHM "Really needs" their mythic.
Unless content literally cannot be completed without them they're not required, and so far I haven't seen a case made for any content being impossible with a party of non-mythic holders. It's really just elitist player standards of clearing content as fast as possible, not a necessity.

I read it, and I know its pointless.
You replying is pointless.
Me replying to you is pointless.
The Japanese side of the forums is the only thing that ever gets read, and on here they are just chatting and saying what they do in XI or just random chatter, on the 14 forums they just talk about wanting new outfits. So literally the Japanese forums don't provide feedback much at all. (In terms of gamemplay.)
The FF14 servers are in maintenance, and I'm bored, saw your reply, so I guess I can say what they should do.
1.) Farming merits then doing 7 Lilith is the real complaint.
(Edit: the low drop rate + deaths + needing to farm exemplar after too many deaths feels bad on bad. They could remove the exemplar loss on this fight or increase the drop rate. As it stands, it is just easier to do VE with the crap drop rate and bring a THF to proc TH, which just feels bad, and requires doing so many runs. Even on VD it isn't a 100% drop rate with a THF, so even if you could manage to always bring a THF and never die, you're looking at numerous attempts and so many people need so many pieces. Doing Lilith before "losing exemplar" was a thing didn't bother me. Now dying over and over, and never getting a drop across numerous difficulty options just feels bad because not only do you get nothing, you also lose exemplar, so you have in the back of your mind "if I die enough times I'll really start de-leveling. on top of getting no drops.")
I like the challenge of the fight, it is interesting, but the drop rate is abysmal. To me it feels lower than other HTMB even though SE says its higher. Maybe in general it is, but actually walking away with an item feels like it never happens, with other fights I can take my THF with me, and get a drop every run. In Lilith I can do VE, E, or drop THF for MNK and do N. I haven't tried D or VD cause N gets pretty dicey.
I did like 40 Troves and got 0 malignance there too. I don't know if it was removed with the recent change to Trove or not.
The point is I need a lot of high investment items, which means low return after thousands of hours of gameplay.
Normally this is fine, but the problem is it is very easy to hit a point where all "short term" and "mid term" goals are met, so you find yourself spending months if not years grinding just a handful of items to make miniscule progress, which doesn't feel great.
Maybe I need to do Limbus, I don't know, that feels even more pointless.
The real big issue is FFXI is so laggy and slow. Changing zones, and waiting for inventory to load every time really starts to irritate me.
Targeting on gamepad is also extremely annoying. For 1 month they made it amazing (you could target an object by pressing L1 + X but they immediately changed it so now you always target an enemy, which is basically never useful unless you're doing Domain invasion.)
FFXI really needs more relaxing content, faster inventory loading, and other updates to make the game run more smoothly.
2.) Nyzul.
It has no rewards. That is the problem.
You spend hundreds of hours doing content to make 1/100th progress towards your mythic.
My Nyzul runs always go like this:
-Activate all lamps
-Eliminate all enemies.
-Activate all lamps
-Eliminate Specified Enemies
-Boss
-Activate all lamps
-Eliminate all enemies
-Activate all lamps
-Eliminate specified enemies
-Eliminate Enemy Leader
-Activate all lamps
-Eliminate all enemies
-Activate all lamps
-Eliminate all enemies
-Eliminate Specified enemies
It is extremely annoying how often there is a lamp floor.
If they removed lamps entirely or only did the "register party members" it would not be so irritating.
If they removed all lamps, and "eliminate all enemies" I actually might not hate it.
If they removed all lamps, removed eliminate all enemies, and added 5 merit points per floor cleared I wouldn't mind doing it.
If they removed all lamps, removed eliminate all enemies, added 5 merit points per floor, and if you ran out of time still got 75% of all points I might sometimes enjoy it.
if they removed all lamps, removed eliminate all enemies, added 5 merit points per floor, and if you ran out of time still got 75% of all points, then also gave a stack of Alexandrite upon clearing the floor 100 boss it might actually feel quite productive.
(I could keep going all day long of how they could improve Nyzul. it feels so horrible to me.)

In short, I just hit a major snag in my progress.
I did like 40 Trove, like 40 Lilith and got literally only 1 malignance piece.
I did 30-35 assaults, 80k worth of Nyzul, and between that and malignance, and the constant irritation of slow loading inventory, poor targeting, and no relaxing content that feels useful, I just went to FFXIV.
I like FFXI a lot, I just feel like, because how slow the servers are, and how janky the camera and controls are, and the lack of relaxing content, I just had to step away. (After progress felt completely pointless.)
I mean my "group" did have good progress recently, but it didn't feel impactful. I got Trishula, Marsayas, Chango, 3 Volte pieces to flesh out my BRD's TP set, 1 malignance piece for RDM, RUN's Ergon and a multitude of RUN pieces, and a plethora of other useful items, but all of it feels utterly useless without Burtgang, Yagrush, and a full set of Malignance for the RDM in my group.

I did like 40 Trove, like 40 Lilith and got literally only 1 malignance piece. That's everyone, not just you, the whole set is very rare.
As for the jank, yeah it's jank, but it's software that was mostly built 20+ years ago. short of a full rebuild it's just a part of the game.

40 liliths VE for one piece is not bad at all.
40 liliths VD for one piece was ... still good when you're 4/5 on multiple characters before SE changed it. But now It's gonna typically be what, 1/15~? idk since I finished my 5/5 a very long time ago.
I don't play on gamepad but you should be able to configure it to use the other targeting method...that coincides to either F8 or F10, not sure which since I don't gamepad and just use whichever suits my needs on keyboard.

So you're going to stop paying them for 11, and pay the same company for 14? and you think this is a problem for them?
Not only is it the same company, but 11 and 14 are both the same division. On the investor reports literally nothing changed at all.

Well nothing except possibly playing the game you enjoy more. But in terms of affecting SE in some way, yeah, it doesn't tell them anything lol.
