Please shed some light on Mastery Rank! Is Rank 10 attainable?

Thank you for hard work and keeping the lights on for our favorite mainline FF title. Could you please shed some light on Mastery Rank! Is Rank 10 attainable? (There are about 1100 titles in the game)

Forgive me, but I doubt SE will take the lid off Mastery Rank no matter how politely you ask. Sorry.

Side note: According to BG, not all titles carry the same weight, so the number isn't necessarily explicitly relelvant beyond more is better.

It doesn't need to be some nice round number.

The quest itself can reward you with 3 possible titles:

Although they they only previously said that the content completion and titles were very closely related, I suspect, like you were previously, that it simply is entirely based on the titles, since (almost) every notable thing in the game has one. By now I bet most of us who have been around long enough have done everything you mentioned already; but I would probably lean towards just needing the titles and not each individual version, since they all award the same titles. That said, you can do three out of the four in the pursuit of the three titles so, I guess it doesn't hurt to just do the fourth one to be sure. lol.

But basically everything SE has said up to this point, combined with player research, says its simply based on titles. Even things like leveling up, you get a title for every job when you max out job points. I don't think there's titles related to master levels though, so.... ???

Frankly it annyos me they put this number in the game at all, we got a long just fine tracking our levels, mission and quest completion on our own. They put this number in the game specificially for the Assist Channel so new players would have an idea how experienced the person they're talking to is. But of course, if there's a number in the game that can go up, you'll find people obsessed with maxing it out...

Yeah, I just want to know if the some of the more outlandish titles are worth the same effort.

I guess I'll do the lowest common denominator titles and see what happens

We only (apparently) know that certain titles, like for reaching the highest campaign medal, are apparently worth significantly more than others. (I'm honestly not sure how they figured that out tbh). But we don't know the exact values. But I think this is meant to reinforce the real intended purpose of mastery rank- just to signal to new comers that the person helping them is experienced enough to know what they're talking about.

Gads, I have a folder on my laptop for screenshots of all of the different face types I've completed A Discerning Eye with so far. Nearly five years since I last put some time into it! XD

And of course, the two Brown Magic titles for 20,000+ foods/greens.

I think I've only got about 560 days left on my Pond Dredger/Coastal Fishing Net though (should never have stopped religiously logging in for years, my bad).

You've reversed Cause and Effect. We know this because Fujito said so in October, during Freshly Picked. No one has Rank 10 yet.

No I haven't. BGWiki wouldn't have the info filled in if it wasn't actually known, unless it was fabricated.

Any person can edit BGWiki and very often a source isn't attributed in many circumstances. We know that Rank 10 yields +30 to all stats not because a player has independently verified them, but because Director Fujito said so in October, before the item's release.

So not only did they go against what they originally said (and even put in the game manual) about mastery rank not affecting gameplay, they specifically publicized that fact? interesting.

I'm glad you're getting something from mastery rank, but that wasn't its original intended purpose. And they originally said and promised that it wouldn't have an effect on gameplay. But since they added an item with high stats (if you have high mastery rank), that's no longer true.

Wooo! Rank 9!! There are still quite a few weighty things I haven't done yet either like several more ranks of Chocobo Digging, ALL the Master Trials, any M50 jobs, and making an escutcheon, so it's bound to be possible...

That's so cool! What are some of your noteworthy accomplishments to reach Rank 9 without those other notable things?

I've done... well, quite a lot. I have over 970 titles, including some like Mimic Masher, and Triumphant Owner, I leveled every Monstrosity monster to 99, have Lu Shang's and Ebisu rods +1, capped out my synthing skills, and completed every side quest with only 1 subquest exception that doesn't appear in the log. I've also done every RoE quest with the exception of Sortie & Escutcheon RoE's.
