So seems to be a permanent effect maybe a bug now since last update, On the character selection Screen the correct cosmetics armor/armor on current job in correct location isn't being displayed correctly though its auto saving the correct character's location and armor upon logging into that character it is the correct location, location plus jobs and armors that was last used plus equipment plus last logged out on, It finally did change onto the character screen once, even I did the FFXI.config settings option to check files next time the ffxi game is from being stuck displaying my elvan character's Thf job i-Lvl gears stating being in lower Jeuno stuck showing thére onto the character selection screen in lower Jeuno to zoning into mog gardens which it wás stuck that way on character's select screen of being in lower Jeuno so even before that check files run plus logged out/shutdown game I had swapped back to the job plus gears the characters selection screen was stuck to be displayed/displaying to shutdown then setting up configs update+check files ordeals, still no changes happening with it hidingly saving correct but miss displayed on the characters selection screen, in the past if it ever did that. upon changing gears or jobs plus gears then logging out right away when it got stuck to the previous gears, jobs & location shown onto the character selection screen logged out to back then to the years it happened I was able to just logged right back into sams character zone or zone a few (or change back to which it stuck to displaying then zone in game then swapping back to the gears/jobs/location I was in before logging back out again which would have fixed itself onto the server side/server character saved upon logging out screen. Trying to figure out how to make this senseabily understandable to whats occuring/going-on,
Think this might of happened upon a few times ago or the time I was leveling my 2nd character's beast it must of got stuck to lower Jeuno - thief job as I had been leveling up beast job most of the day out in East Ronafuar (S) before game did a full game çlose out vanishing window çrash when I was attacking a djinn that did its exploded ability at same time I was having my weapon skill started to going off in attacking it on my beast job with an antlion pet out attacking plus trusts out with it all going off from the enemy plus my ws plus Trusts WS going off then full window vanish crash, instead of crashing to POL Viewer Launcher app screen for ffxi it just didn't even jump back to the launcher screen with usual error code as it just did the straight vanishing crash window crash being on a Windows 11 lenovo Ideapad 320 laptop, So I am worried for the server sided →server saved logged out character settings upon be putting back at the character selection screen that supposed to be displayed all the characters changes including the text area of the characters selection screen, now what's even odder is that my first shown character isn't having this issue in keeps showing everything in gears changed, ≥text area): locations - race - job - level - area≤ is being displayed correctly with all the changing jobs plus gears etc that I have changed that character to with it saved to server for logging out.
So far on 2nd now not coming out of being displayed stuck permanently where onto the past it corrected itself on either character when this had happened as currently my 2nd character is logged out into norg on my bst job plus gears with the character selection screen still displays he is in mog gardens on his 99/i-lvl.

Will keep logging into character even though this is happening to my 2nd character upon displays for its ffxi characters selection screen, just going to keep playing iñ hopin ing for à fix to it comes about since characters are basically saved to the server sides of things...
I just hope my first slot displaying character doesn't eventually end up with this issue or this issue being acting shown permanently like whats my 2nd slot/2nd's character's effect is happening now or has become permanent happening now.
I might have to mention that I have nearly ran the ffxi config check files setting up for game running again upon nearly every crash or games vanishing window crashes after they've occurred including some error code crashes.
I always choose run in administration mode for both game and the ffxi config tool, and the ffxi game.

Style lock. When you change jobs, you have to re-requip the set you want to use the appearance (use a gear set macro of and re-activate style lock. Accordingly, if style lock is active, switching to another set without changing jobs will not change your appearance. Since it looks like you may have returned after a long abscence, you might not be fully familiar with this feature.
There is no bug or glitch with your character. If you need help and you use discord you can add me on it and share screens so I can try help you.

This is without style lock set to being on and its set to off and changing jobs also takes the style lock off as well
Soo some people have reported to me or replied to me in game that they have as well experienced the vanishing instantly closeout game window with no jump back out to its launcher screen like normally after the august update changes to besieged which happened approximately during the first besieged run where the attacking npcs became clumped together not really moving through the door way with the ramp over the crevice water way after the entrance to Al'zahbi which everyone coming to that point of the area to be attacking them overcrowded by both the besieged npc's attacking plus players attacking where it happened not only myself but quite a few players had their game just instantly closed out crash the whole entire gaming window with no POL Launcher window jumping right back to their desktops that kind reminds me of the old PS2 console days issues but seems like ever since then for my Yogorock character on the leviathan server hasn't had the music displaying/coming through during the starting CS of the besieged battle since August update if the battle music even plays at all during the besieged since the same experienced crashed vanished game window by players occurred during that players crowded that area to attack them as where it also the music is running properly onto my other character.

Nope, again I know what style lock is and how it is portrayed onto the character selection screen if still onto the same job not changed out as well. The Issue staying displayed a different job than the One I've changed to then logged out upon when I've landed back onto the character swapping screen/character's selections screen as well.
Soo I may have to do a video clip of the occurrences to fully display plus show whats exactly is going on because this is with stylelock completely shutoff as well. I could do it through OBS studio that I would normally use to stream the game as well.

Figures a part of my message got deleted or wasn't saved so now picking my brain as to what all was written beyond this point at the end of it....
So also before anyone responds about adjusting the volumes into the game under the in-game configs, yes I know how to turn up then turn down the volumes including music volumes per character including adjusting sounds on my pc's settings but thats not the issue but seems tied to only to my 2nd character for now
I'm speaking on loggéd out to character screen displays issue, which is also written in text off to the side of your character as well and the in games Cutscenes bebsieged battle music plus seems noticable after cs ends on music for battle not being portrayed correctly in coming through but I swap to my 1rst character then its not an issue "yet" onto that character.
Also know about the configuration menus before the characters selected/swapping character's screen as well

Any configuration issue that is charcter-specific can likely be resolved by deleting that character's folder in the game folder. This will reset all options, settings, macros, etc. to default. Back it up before deleting.

Here is the thing though ... I don't trust myself enough to mess with anything to the official gaming files or anything to mess with the games installed/installation files and I know I am also the very last vanilla player playing ffxi, I really don't mess with that stuff or kinds of files, lately its been showing it has switched area's only after I've job switched back to my thf job wearing sàme thf gears thats shown stuck to at the character "select character" screen as shown stuck onto that character selection swapative screen back out of my bst job even though stuck shown thf on character selection screen it still will be logged out on my bst job then next day start game again log on bst with it still stuck to shown thf-plus-thf gears on character selection screen, I already lost all my véry many years map markers to help memorize/memorywize get to places, and Macro's nearly both characters plus the character the last remaining macros plus maps markers are on the character with the issue but now to fix it-it has to do with this losing them even further as took too many years in creating all of those uniquely named-plus-placed markers for the memory helps and macro's in exactly they were created too.
Reasons I tend to believe its saved onto the servers (server-side( is because you install the game onto another pc then login to your square enix ffxi account onto that pc then once your past the pol launcher apps screen with the final fantasy 11 tied to it "next" reaching the screen games Actual title screen showing the bars for all the add-ons plus expansions you have purchased plus gained over the years, type of security token screen, how many mog wardrobes you have "actively" purchased including the menu bars for Select Character - create character - delete character (I could never fathom deleting my years upon very many long years worked years characters( - config button and back button, then hit select character button to proceed to my issues screen of selection of characters swap created characters being played screen, also my first ====←sloted character just a day or two ago came across the same issue had the same exact issue were I was playing my bluemage job with the i-Lv. gears I've set to it then since wanted to fast log out this time but being able to log in next time on another job next time hopping into game - I zoned into my mog house changed from my blu mage job to my 72'ish 73'ish PLD wearing pld normal obtained dyna artifact gears then immediately logging out to the character selection screen upon immediately logging out to shown characters upon the character selection screen then I could see that my character hasn't changed over from showing my previous selection equipped job plus its bluemage equipment shown/still shown onto that screen instead of the pld gears plus pld job I just had swapped to before logging out to "select character" screen so since I hadn't completely shutdown the game yet and was still on the select screen with now my other character doing the same issue I just instead immediately did the hopping right back into the game - right back onto that same character swapping back to bluemage zoning out of the mog house or mog gardens or wherever last logged this character at zoning it then rezoning it back in changing jobs back to PLD again but zoning out again with zoning to places a couple more times before zoning back into the mog house/rent-a-room then proceeded to logout to "select character" screen again this time it was as it should be switched to my PLD job plus pld equipment it has equipped for that job basically fixed its self into that sort of way compared to my other character stuck to only thf plus its equipment equipped.

Here is the thing though ... I don't trust myself enough to mess with anything to the official gaming files or anything to mess with the games installed/installation files and I know I am also the very last vanilla player playing ffxi, Like I said. Deleting these files will simply reset every bit of information STORED LOCALLY to the default. This will not affect your character itself in any way and the worst thing that can happen if you delete the wrong thing is you'll have to reinstall the game. Which might actually not be a bad thing in your situation.
If you want to fix your problem, you're going to have to get your hands a little dirty. You kinda have to to even install or play this game to an extent because SE never made it the easiest thing to do lol.
I will show you what to do here.
First, Although there are other methods (press certain button combinations on the character select screen to save/restore your local data to the PlayOnline server) they added an easy way to back up your local data in the Final Fantasy XI Config Tool. Open it and go to the Features tab, and click Save under In-Game Settings:
https://i.imgur.com/Gx72VXH.png
It will let you leave a note so you can remind yourself of when you made the backup or what you made it for, then let you save a file (which is a consolidation of everything in the folders I mention below) anywhere you like. Now that you have your data backed up, it's safe to continue:
If you navigate to this folder
C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER
(replace C:\ with whatever disk you installed the game on)
you'll see something like this
There will be a folder here for each character you have i.e. the number of folders here should match the number of characters on your account.
As an additional safety measure, simply copy these folders to another location you can remember, and then delete them. Now log into the game and see if the issue is resolved. If it is, then you know for sure that something in your local setting files was the reason for your problem. If not... well then the issue is then more likely to be on SE's end and you'll need to file a support ticket.
As I said- This will not hurt your game in any way- your characters are stored on the server, not locally.
Again, If you're on discord, I can walk you through this in real time if you'd like.

Lost parts edit into new post 1 that would have been before next replied from below:
Also since I didn't finish on why I tend to believe its servers )server-saved-sided( us because you can totally install the whole entire game onto another pc woth brand new set of files due to newly installed onto another pc then once you're all setup plus logged into your square enix ffxi account through the POL launcher app screen then you next to be jumping into your "select character" screen and once your are there your seeing the last job you were on plus the character's gears last worn from playing it on an intirely different npc thus not seeing how deleting a file "which by the way your saying sounds like I will be deleting my character through the character deletion file" anyways not seeing how deleting that file is going to change that issued occurrence happening as I could never-ever-delete my characters and if thats the only options for a fix then forget it I would just stick with the darn problem instead. Yeah as "I don't use" moded files, game created enhanced ffxi playing files to the ffxi game that everyone does to play ffxi these days being only one left not touching files to the games gaming files in such stuff as very last actual legitimately playing game files as is game player to the game but yes if SE stilled GM's banned everyone in game for doing that then I would be the only player left into the game as yes countless times very many times I am/have-been reminded about this being a last player playing as game were installed no changes to this game of games files etc. I haven't even done the terms filter files add-in mod acceptable intended to be in game for that very reason of pretty sure I will just mess something up or really mess the game up by doing so even though I have watched several times over on how to do the terms filter files add-in to the game as intended legitimately for the game.

Also since I didn't finish on why I tend to believe its servers )server-saved-sided(I promise you, it's not server side. like 99%.
Please look at the steps I added to my post above. If you need help, say so and I'll briefly post my discord here so you can add me.
once your are there your seeing the last job you were on plus the character's gears last worn from playing it on an intirely different npc thus not seeing how deleting a file "which by the way your saying sounds like I will be deleting my character through the character deletion file"I'm going to say this in big text to make it clear.
YOU CANNOT DELETE YOUR CHARACTERS BY DELETING ANY GAME FILES. PERIOD.
the ONLY way to delete your characters is to do so in-game at the main menu.
I'm offering you help here as someone with a bit of knowledge, in good faith.
Also:
We are not "MODDING" anything and you cannot be banned by deleting, moving around, or doing pretty much anything with your local game files. The most that can happen is you break your game and have to reinstall it. SE does not and cannot legally scan your files to make sure you're not modding.
PS. PLEASE put line breaks and periods in your posts. it is very hard to read your posts.

You can refuse to accept my help, and that's fine, but if you do, you're pretty much going to have to accept your character's state- because I promise you, it is extremely unlikely to be a server side issue. You can file a support ticket with them now, but I'll bet anything they will just tell you to post here.
There is a reason why SE has tools to back up and restore your settings files: Because a lot of problems with the game can be resolved by resetting them, plus if you move to a new PC, this means you don't have to set up your macros and everything all over again.
I know I am also the very last vanilla player playing ffxi1) you are definitely not the last vanilla player, practically everyone who frequents this forum is.
2) following my steps to potentially fix your problem will not make you any less "vanilla." we are NOT MODDING ANYTHING. This is using SQUARE ENIX SANCTIONED methods to back-up and reset your local data. See that first screenshot above? That's the Final Fantasy XI Config Tool. It is an official config tool that comes with the game. There is nothing shady or fishy about using it to back up your data.
Ask anyone else here on this forum, I may not know everything and I might not be the most likable person here, but most anyone here will vouch that I'm not intentionally misleading you.
of pretty sure I will just mess something up Look man, I'm offering to hold your hand here. I want to help you. You won't mess anything up. It really isn't rocket science.

Right, I do know about the ffxi configs backup saving option and yeah always have had discord since around maybe before 2020 but I shouldn't do this gonna have to put things on hold for a fix until things clear out off my plate on events happening plus stuff on my plate needing to be finished at least until being in October when more Free'er to doing the pc files work for ffxi so see you for the help on it in October after October 5th 6'ish, kay?

Whenever you decide you want help, I will do my best to help you. I can't promise that I will fix your problem, but I can promise that we won't make things worse than they already are.
In the meantime: There's one easy way to make sure the game itself is in a good state.
in the Final Fantasy XI Config Tool, click the "Other" tab and click the button "File Check Settings". This will check the game files the next time you go to play the game. This is different from the File Check in the PlayOnline Viewer and can fix problems that checker cannot.
If it gives you greater confidence, the official game manual located here:
http://www.playonline.com/ff11/manual/index.html?loc=en#020400
tells you how to reset your local data in-game. Deleting the folder is faster and this does basically the same thing, but if it makes you more comfortable, performing the reset in-game has the same potential to fix your issue. This feature does not affect your character data- only the locally-stored settings data, resetting it to its default state.

Alrighty will do.
Pretty sure I mentioned that In my first original post that I have used ffxi-config's "File Check Settings" several upon several times over now, I did it even for this problem as well even before making my first post on it as well.
