Autotarget swaps to monsters with lowest HP, with pets this is super annoying and makes very little sense.
Can pets be removed from this auto-target system?
Alternatively can a text command be added that simply flips it so that it targets monsters with the most HP first if the player wants that, this would skip pets to last and allow melee/tank to be targeted first.

Not sure what makes very little sense about switching to the monster it can (hopefully) kill the soonest. Sure, it's basic logic, but it's not inherently flawed logic.
Most of the time it's a good thing. options to change the behavior would be potentially useful, though.

If you kill the master the pet goes away anyway, it's a waste of time. In something like Dyna D it's infuriating when you already have 10-20 adds.

I think I misunderstood your context of pets. You're talking about monsters with pets. I thought you were talking about player pets automatically attacking mobs.

Targeting by HP sounds like it might also be the culprit behind the other most annoying problem with auto-target: locking onto the ranged attacker or mage well out of reach, while the enemies you can actually fight get some free attacks in.
I think ideally there would be two checks that you could switch the polarity and priority of: Max HP (highest or lowest), and HP percentage (highest or lowest.) Sometimes, you want to switch to targets you can dispatch quickly (melee kills.) Other times, you want the ones that will last the longest (area kills.) Sometimes you want to target the weakest monsters (clearing adds), sometimes you want the most durable thing on the field (tanking).

I think it makes more sense that if you're going to auto target it should just target the nearest thing / whatever tab target would target next.

Well, yeah, "target the nearest thing" would make sense, but how many times have we asked for that without it happening? Apparently it's weird black box attribute-based targeting or bust.
