Protect and Shell merit changes

Can some changes be made to Protectra V and Shellra V merits?


Turn these merits to Protect effect and Shell effect merits. I feel if they are changed to affect the entire protect and shell line the end result will feel acceptable when Protectra 6 and Shellra 6 get added.
Make the -ra spells taught by scrolls.
Buff protect effect merits. This could be straight mitigation or even a chance to nullify physical damage. Protect needs something added to make them worth the cost past the initial buy in.

I have to concur. Protectra 5 got boned and could really use some sort of boost compared to the way merits upgrade it.

I hope they leave it as is just so I can leave my merits alone, lol.
I feel pretty good at the moment about not having any merits in the, oh-so-worthless Protectra V.

I agree. Protectra 5 is just a laughable 5 def more than Protectra 4, and even with full Protectra 5 merits, the increase in defence from 4 to 5 is smaller than from 3 to 4. In a game where defence already makes a very little impact at large values, this spell isn't really worth the single merit point you need to unlock it.

For Protectra 5 to be anything close to worth spending a merit on, the def bonus should probably start at 20 point more than protectra 4, and each merit probably add 3 def to that.

I do however also think that changing the protectra and shellra 5 merits into protect/shell potency merits, so that they will affect all protshell versions, including single target versions.
