You posted it "Gildrein" I'm holding you accountable for your own post.
Bring forth your progress after 12 years of making us wait.

Sorry to say that it was officially abandoned many years ago when the person responsible for it left SE. Also I don't even think that person works at SE anymore either, or if so, not on the XI project.

This is WEBSITE feedback and suggestions , not GAME feedback and suggestions.

Very cool! Thank you for sharing this! I had no idea the new UI was shared with us in so much detail before it was abandoned. Really interesting to see what could have been.

Indeed, they shared it so much that we could even play using it, on the test-server which was unfortunately discontinued... or our access to it at least.

Some previous threads on this:

- New UI from 2013?
- new UI?

Yeah, and sadly back then they got almost nothing but cricirism for it, even though it was clearly a prototype with no art assets in place. The new icon set they added giving unique icons to most spells and some abilities was actually specifically intended for this new UI (though they weren't there yet at the time we got to test the UI).

You could move windows around anywhere on the screen, use the icons on the macro bar to give it a more hotbar-like feel, other planned features being able to open multiple bags at once, potentially allowing drag-and-drop. It was part of a plan to make mouse+keyboard play actually viable (though the mouse camera controls still needed a revamp that they never got)

There were some other neat features like being able to see all recast times for spells/abilities in the spell/ability list without having to highlight or select them.

I think at least some of those were in?

Can be seen here on the one I posted for the other thread, though not very well because the windows they're in mostly are not the active one, so they're dimmed a bit:

Yea maybe I am misremembering it. Also another notable thing you can see in that shot is a third macro bar (would be nice if we could still get that...)
