Why are the Prishe Boots+1 time gated?

Kind of furious NGL. It was my understanding that you could get the Key Items at anytime after you got the boots from the login event. Why would you gate the Key Items behind a time restriction? Really dumb, a great way to infuriate a returning player.

Queue a million people droning on about how I should have known/done x and/or return to XIV/WoW/etc below this post.

I actually wasn't aware there was a time limit on completing this. I wasn't in any hurry to do so because I figured I could just do it whenever.

It honestly should have just been "buy 2 and synergize them" like everything else. Are you saying it's already not possible to finish this? I randomly happened upon one of the KIs but didn't really know what to do next.

So yeah, given that I was also unaware, and I don't remember any mention of a deadline on being able to create the +1 (the other login items can be synergized anytime as long as you bought two of them), I think it's safe to say you're not the only one in this situation and in this case, I don't think it was explained adequately.

It does seem odd to me, because you can still buy the boots from the vendor.

The final point of interaction has been removed as well, most likely at the same time the Greeter Moogles were, so even if you have all the key items it's not possible to complete the thing at this time (that's one of my characters now, ooops, didn't quite finish things up even though I had a bit of a feeling something silly like this might happen).

Kind of feels unintentional, but it could well be a "while the boots are not available, why keep the things available" thing... but in any case, I'm someawhats optimistic that they'll be back sooner or later.

If it is intentional, I don't think they communicated it at all, not even during the #70 mogivana stream where they talked about the boots, but I could have missed it. Will need to listen to it again.

I can't find any indication there was an officially set time limit on this. But the original post from Prishe on the news page seems to be gone (or i just cant find it for some reason). I think there should be a clarification on this

Yeah, that's it. but it doesn't say anything about not being able to upgrade the item after the login campaign period. Which, normally you can do this, because it's just normally a synergy recipe.

Well, technically, you can still do the synergy... it's only access to the second required item that's cut off.

Which still doesn't change the fact that they broke format on the +1, making it a different item rather than two of a kind, and then made half of the recipe impossible to obtain after a certain unannounced arbitrary point in time, which is super not cool. If it hadn't been a regular old login points item this might have been okay, but this is extraordinary limits on something that wasn't presented as extraordinary.

Hopefully the Prishe's Teardrop is added as a login point item in July or something, if the mini-quest isn't brought back entirely.

In the future... this was a nice idea, but the execution was poor. A mini-quest to upgrade an item related to a popular character is a fun twist on the usual login point item formula, but players need to be informed in advance that it's a limited-time opportunity.

If I had to guess, they will rerun this event every now and then when they add the boots back as a login item.

It was seemingly related to the FFXIV raid, although I don't know if they presented it as such. You had to zone into each of the 4 areas where the raid takes place.

I was missing the Ru'Aun key item so I mostly rushed through RotZ but was forced to take a break for 2-3 days (which I didn't mind since from what I had gathered this would most likely stay active once you have the original boots)
Lo and behold I unlocked and zoned into Ru'Aun for the first time today... then a second time... then a third time... then it sank in...

Don't worry, it was broken before too. I picked up the boots but couldn't get KIs even when the campaign was on. Figured I'd sort it out later. womp womp.

I think we deserve an explanation from SE on this one. I can not find any evidence of a specific date range to be able to perform the steps needed to +1 the Prishe Boots given by SE in any news post.

well... this kinda sucks if true, especially considering the effort to make +1 involves journey related to the quite recent added alliance raid in FF14, with places needs to visit would be same as with its counterparts.

I did finish my +1, but mainly due to nostalgic-driven from what I said above.

Really weird making this event a time-gated if true, considering all that. Hope they fix this.

It's really blatantly obvious they coded it to be an event that was linked to the boots being on the login item list, and when they bring them back the event will come back with it.
