What key item specifically are you expecting to obtain?

Since it seems you are also expecting a cutscene event when exiting the area, I'll guess you are after the completion of the quest: To Paste a Peiste

If this is correct, I'd check the active quests and see if it is listed. Would also check completed quests in case it was already completed in ages past.

Note that for the quest event to trigger, you'll need to have at least one Traverser Stone in your key items when entering the specific area.
