The update says - The Cardians do not incur any damage when you attack, allowing you to test your equipment combinations and perfect the timing for your magic and weapon skills.

Platform: Windows 11

Type of Internet Connection: fiber
Internet Connection Speed: 1gb
Date & Time: 8:00 am PST
Frequency: 100%
Character Name: Phiis
Race: Elvaan
World: Fenrir
Main Job: Warrior
Support Job: Dragoon
Area and Coordinates: Sauromugue Champaign (E-6)
Party or Solo: Solo
NPC Name: Macro Test
Monster Name: Macro Test
Steps:
1. Attack Macro Test
2. gain 0 Tp
3. be unable to use new test dummy in any meaningful way :(

We are unable to test weaponskills on the Macro Test Cardians because they do not give tp due to taking 0 damage.

This will greatly reduce the effectiveness of testing TP-hit builds, weaponskills, self skillchains etc.

Yeah, you can't easily test weapon skill execution or skillchains if you don't get TP from hitting it.

Instead of it not taking damage, why not just give it a massive HP pool and autommatically restore its HP after every hit?

More than that, if they don't take damage then... what exactly are they serving to test? We can see that a macro is changing gear without any need for a target, /equip and /equip will execute just fine. What needs checking in a macro is whether gear is being changed at the correct time - are spells being completed in a fast cast set, or the appropriate spell potency one? Are weaponskills being execured in weaponskill gear, or is the TP set coming in too soon? Is blood pact damage switching in before the action processes, or is blood pact delay still on?

If we can't see a difference in damage, we don't have any feedback that helps answer these questions. All we know is what we, again, could have learned without a target: gear is being swapped at some point.

I figured they would just be like the striking dummies in FFXIV but really all they do is provide a valid enemy target for actions. You can't check DPS and unless you have some form of regain you can't really test WS on them. This makes no sense lol

There was also a similar post on a Japanese forum…

It probably is "working as intended." The problem is, their intention doesn't allow them to function as players expected them to.
