What's the best ultimate setup for high-quality? Some people say use just a Stall, but i feel like that limits the crafting cap to not have the sign and other items in the mog house, also I was wondering about How you do it, do you just put all the items in the mog house or do you use other furniture to boost it, does that make it HQ less success less? I guess what I'm trying to ask, and i pray i don't get my head tore off for it, but I wanted to know what works best for the game, not just personal preference. All the guides are vague about it, and it seems to have changed over time, for example positions facing, and day or moon phase or month etc. So yeah, I don't think it's a stupid question to ask.

Facing certain directions is a myth that was debunked by SE years ago ( source (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/51149-FINAL-FANTASY-XI-Reddit-AMA-Summary?p=583640#post583640) ). Moon phase is still popularly believed to have an influence (full moon = higher skill up rate, new moon = higher HQ rate) but frankly I think this is also a myth. Anything not concretely proven should be taken with a massive grain of salt. The only concrete modifiers are your crafting skill level, skill bonuses from gear, bonuses from Moghancements, and guild support.

It would be interesting to see testing on having all the guild point furnishings though. You only get one effect, so logically the best one should be the +5 skill from the stall. However, having enough of the other furnishings actually changed their effect from just +1 skill to +1 skill and reduced loss on breaks; has anyone bothered trying a setup with the stall and all the furnishings to see if that would create a similar set bonus effect?

I doubt that it works like that, I'd expect someone to have tried and recorded it on at least one of the wikis by now if it did, but first-hand information is always nice to have if it's available.

it depends on the recipe level difference.
if I'm crafting something that's lv.119+, I will always use stall as that lets me hit the next tier HQ rate.
If i'm crafting something that the stall won't let me hit another tier of HQ rate, and especially if I don't need support either, I will use moglification: goldsmithing for the material loss down.
I will generally craft in an adoulin area since that can get a mat. loss down buff as well. my server doesn't really look for kupofried things too frequently for signet.

not sure if this is valid but i went 3 months with just a stall barely made 1 hq a day with the final shield, added sign and items, and also other crafting items now im hqing like a god, it could just be i hit 20 good days in a row but this seems relevant.

It's luck. lol. Players read way too far into anything that's essentially a game of chance.

As I noted before, SE officially told us the crafting compass is nonsense. The only luck factor that is still up in the air is moon phase, which I find questionable but some people still believe in that.

All that matters is getting your overall skill level as high as possible, except when you can't get to a higher level of HQ rate.

Sometimes I wonder if day of the week actually matters, because I can have long streaks of successes or back-to-back HQs for a while, and then I suddenly start getting like six breaks in a row, a couple of successes, five breaks... I need to start keeping track of factors to see if I can spot a pattern or if it really is just "surprise, your crafting is bad for a while because the random number gods are angry."
