For years, target nearby NPC always prioritized objects/NPC.

Now, (since the November update) it prioritizes a monster over objects and NPC's.

99% of the time, you will want to target an object/NPC instead of a monster that is 100 yalms away.

Please adjust the "Confirm/Select" option to function as F8 did prior to the November Update.

Suggestion:

-Confirm/Select (Gamepad) Enter (Keyboard)
Function- to perform as F8 did prior to the November 2024 update.
(Prioritizing objects over monsters.)

Reason:

-Players wishing to target objects can use Confirm/Select/Enter to target objects instead of enemies.
-Players wishing to target enemies instead of objects can use Button Combination+Select/Confirm or F8.

Everyone is happy.

Currently there is no option to target objects easily. (There was prior to the November 2024 update.)

Please and thank you.

Right now we have /targetbnpc, which targets only battle capable NPCs, and /targetnpc, which targets any NPC; maybe add a third command which targets only non-combat NPCs, and offer players a menu setting to choose which of these F8 will use? (And maybe a text command to change the setting without having to navigate through the menu every time?)

I updated the original post to further minimize and clarify the request.

I still very much wish this to be addressed, as it makes playing FFXI significantly and dramatically much more logical, sensible, and enjoyable.

As it stands, not making this adjustment creates a frustrating experience for players not only while doing missions, but also while doing pretty much all content.

Please, I find this adjustment extremely important to everyday gaming in FFXI. Thank you.

This issue is still proving to be a problem with targeting.

I wish to continue playing on gamepad, and not need to use the keyboard.

Please consider the option to adjust the Select/confirm button, or to adjust the R1+X (button combination + select confirm) button to target objects as a priority over monsters.
