anyone else having issues with final fantasy xi config?

I have rebought the game and redownloaded it, but due to pain I have issues using KB&M so when I changed the settings in the final fantasy xi config it shows that it is saved but when I launch the game it is still on default setting, for example I have the show movie at launch unchecked, enable gamepad and the buttons assigned, and like I said it shows it saved the settings but never applies the changes.

I didn't have to re-buy but I did have to re-install a few times and both times the config seemed to work. Main problem I had was a non-activated Windows and the game pad config not keeping the save and also not being available in-game. So, I basically had no controller support.

Other than that, no issues.

To be sure, you are seeing 'FINAL FANTASY XI Config' in the title of the configuration utility, not 'PlayOnline Viewer Config' (latter being only for PlayOnline related config)?

Furthermore, there are three different 'FINAL FANTASY XI Config.exe' binaries installed, one for each locale (EU/JP/US) depending on the installer used, and if using the Windows shortcut created by the installer, I imagine it should be linked to the correct language version automagically, but perhaps check which one it is linked to, and/or try running the other English language version instead.

They are located under:

/install/path/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/Tools/
/install/path/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/ToolsEU/
/install/path/SquareEnix/FINAL FANTASY XI/ToolsUS/

Each writes their own configuration data (I believe only into the Windows registry), and I think only one of them will be considered by the game client (again depending on the installer used.
