Steps:
1. Search the entire zone for the ??? to obtain a Shield Bug in order to spawn the NM Shieldtrap.
2. ??? for Shield Bug is never found anywhere.
3. I have repeatedly searched the entire zone for the ??? for the past week. It is never found.
4. I have waited for hours in known spawn locations of the ??? (such as (G-9) or (K-9) ) for the Shield Bug, in case it has moved while I searched. The ??? never appears.
5. There is a good chance that the ??? for Shield Bug is no longer functioning.

I was trying to verify it for documentation purposes, and it simply wasn't to be found anywhere. Figure that the NM is simply forgotten at this point so no one would ever run into this issue as the drop is pointless from it.

NPC IDs have shifted in these zones over the years so it is possible it just broke and nobody noticed.

Could not find it on Fenrir either, and had a bit of a déjà vu moment of having looked for it before, but can't remember why.

I suppose it could still be working as intended, but not enough of Giant Scales have been used within a Conquest period... or something like that. ^^;

Odd enough, after searching all this time. I logged in and it was right there in front of me.

So it works, and this bug report can be disregarded (sorry). However, it is difficult to find this ???, and it seems to just not be up at times no matter how many times you run around the entire zone.

I had logged in after reading this, and went looking myself. Saw you leave area as i went near the ??? to check. Only message i kept getting was "There are tiny bits of insect wings scattered here..." or something like that.
Although, the Unstable Displacement just south of the Home Point there is green-tinted, and doesn't accept giant scales to widen, just gives some generic message instead... Can't reach that last island :(
