I would like to see some kind of option to change your character's hair. After 5 years of playing, I'm getting kind of tired of the same old hairstyle.

Don't mind if it's in-game or an extra service that you have to purchase.

They can do it. I think if they just get enough interest for it. Not only hair style I want a different color palette to!

Well I constrained the scope to what's already there so the devs wouldn't have to develop "extra" in the hopes that they can get the feature out sooner :D

If I remember correctly, Square Enix said they would consider and look into the ability to change your current hairstyle (sometime during 2007 or 2008?), but I suppose that idea may have been scrapped since it hasn't been added by now.

I would love this feature, but it does present a problem. The ability to change hair and/or character model (within the same race) would present a golden opportunity to FFXI's more dubious players. If dubious players could change worlds and change their character's appearance, it would become incredibly difficult to track down these players and warn others of their past actions.

It all comes down a cost/benefit analysis, though.

i would find this feature to be epic myself....frankly my taru female character has been stuck with the same green hair for a long time!>.>

While changing your hair style can probably be possible, SE can't add new hair styles due to PS2 limitations.

There really isn't any choice for character model though ;)

Too be honest, do you look at and remember how other players' model looks? It's more for personal enjoyment than anything. Personally, I don't think this feature will make it any more or less easier for bad players to scam.

They said that for a lot of things and they still did them.

Like what? The limitations I can think of like item storage limit was never "fixed", they just did it a different way. Like 80 is the limitation on storage, so since they couldn't increase it they simply made more storage "containers".

Probably a better solution would be to drop PS2 Support.

I am all for this, I really dislike the hairstyle I chose after a few years and would like to change it up to a different one. I would probably even pay for this feature.

I realize it would be hard to add new hair styles and new hair colors, but the ability to swap to the other color version of your current style should be easy. Changing to a different style would also change your facial structure, and that would be a bit much probably.

I'm tired of being a white-haired mithra, and not a day passes where I didn't wish I was red-haired.

And yes, I believe the extra storage stuff is pretty much a workaround, and that's why we never got more than 80 items in a single storage thingie. Only two sets of 80 can be brought up at any given time, because more than that would require too much RAM for the PS2.

If you wanted to add new hair color options, each version of these hair colors would probably need to fit in the PS2's RAM at all times, same with new face/hairstyle combinations.

I'd love to at least be able to switch between the A and B styles. The only problem I see with that is that some eye colors don't match up, but that's pretty minor.

I chose the taru with the cool silver hair, but then when my friend said that it looked like old, gray hair, I suddenly liked my taru a lot less.

I haven't even noticed different hair colors having different eye colors :(.

I'd even pay (assuming it was a menial fee like $1-2USD) for the chance to change my head and hair. I can understand SE's concern over potentially offering gender or race changes due to all the race and gender specific gear, but since the head/hair is just aesthetics anyway preventing us from changing seems unusually pointless (IMO).

I would love to change my hair style! looking at the same one gets boring after a few years. It would be nice to have a change.

I would pay 2 dollars to change my hair. More than that and I would start to think it was being greedy, though.

Actually, another service that I've felt was missing, is the option to change your name. Currently, you can do it by server-changing twice, but the process takes at minimum one month and costs like 50 bucks. A name change for like 5-10 bucks would be a nice service, I guess. Hopefully that would be enough to cover the man-hours needed to implement the service.

You can actually change your name for the small fee of $1USD and a week or so of waiting. By creating a new content ID, then deleting your character you wish to rename then creating a new character with that character's name you can then use the character reactivation site to resurrect your original and then be able to change its name. You just have to wait the few days for the reactivation site to show up with your recently deleted character.

At this stage in the development, the best I could see happening is being able to swap with current hairstyles that are already available for your current race.

SE has stated before that they aren't willing to introduce more hairstyles because it would require going back and redoing all head gear for the new stuff. The man hours required for that would be quite large.

The least they could do is add palette swaps, or a place to change hair color.
IE, make a generic white hair texture for all the hairstyles, and then use a slider to change it.

It'd be really nice, considering I started with F6 for Mithra...and it's so common ><

I would love being able to change your hair style, but I'm pretty sure with PS2 limitations and the fact that hair/faces have aren't separate from each other, just changing the hair would be rather difficult unless people want to change their faces to.

I think we deserve all new skins tbh.
