Good evening,

Once a day when I zone / warp into an area I get welcomed by the endless black screen of ***Downloading Data*** followed by Error code FFxi - 3001. When this occurs I reset my router/modem and everything is well, but I needed to reset twice today. I have port forward according to your website and this is still happening. When this happens I can still play other video games with no error codes, no delays, and no problems watching movies/videos. I have uninstalled the game updated my computer and started with a fresh install only to be welcomed once again with the endless black screen of ***Downloading Data*** followed by Error code FFxi - 3001. Please provide me with a diagnosis/solution. Thank you

Infinit

Firstly, you need to use the template.

Also, when you get the error code. Log out, and try using a VPN, log in again and see if that works. If it does, resort back to your original connection.

I don't know what happens sometimes but data seems to get corrupted in the loading parts, and can usually be helped by logging in from an alternative source (temporarily).

Thread Title: Zone / Warp into an area & welcomed by "Infinit" darkscreen / ***Downloading Data*** to include error code FFxi-3001

Steps:

Experienced a ***Downloading Data*** with FFxi-3001 while playing FINAL FANTASY XI. Attempted to log back in immediately after the game crash by restarting the game. Received the following error about 3 minutes after I attempted to log in.
==============================
FFXI-3001
No response from server.
Connection timed out.
Press OK to shut down.
==============================
Gave 3 tries but the result was the same. After restarting both the cable modem and router, I was able to log back in and play FFxi. This is a daily occurrence and was performed twice today on Oct 26, 2023.

I apologize for not reading thoroughly about the template. As you requested. Thank you

Is there a VPN that you recommend to help with the process and has this been a repeatable situation with other PC users?

has this been a repeatable situation with other PC users?

This tends to be a pretty isolated issue, coming up from time to time and I imagine it is caused by something on the route to the servers (there are many "stops" on the way from our homes to the server after all, and probably most of us take a different one).

I've had this issue perhaps a few times since 2005, and it was always an issue with my connection to the game server, not something that SqEX could help with.

On that note, yes, other services can continue to work just fine, since they are not using the same route as the connection to the FFXI servers are, so that is not necessarily an indication that "all is well".

If you haven't yet, it might be worth contacting your internet service provider about the issue, though often they will not be able to actually do anything (or refuse to do anything), especially if the issue is on the way past them. Usually all we can do at that point is wait, and hope that who ever is responsible will fix the issue.

All of this is of course based on my experiences and observations, and are not a solid, hard truth. I could be wrong. :]

In any case, hopefully it is a temporary issue in this case, and will go away soon.

I did notice that you have a wireless connection. Is that just from the PC to the router box thing, or wireless as in mobile network such as 4G? If it's the former, is it possible for you to try and connect the PC to the router/modem using a cable?

"PC to the router box thing" ~ I'll try using a cable... I'll update you with further findings, hopefully, everything turns out good... Thank you for the suggestion ^^

Maybe something like Windscribe - there is a free version. You don't need anything major, it's only to log in and out again before resorting back to your original connection. The other option is to tether your phone, and use the connection from that, again temporarily... It resets the connection and seems to fix the [corrupted] data between loading.

This worked, was able to log in using a Windscribe and then log out and re-establish my original connection... Whoa!~ Very late at the moment haven't logged back in will do it once I get some rest... Zzzz... Thank you for the information ~ Hopefully, this cures the issue...

Morning Update : Tried logging into the game and received the same ***Downloading Data*** followed by Error code: FFxi -3001... Used Windscribe/VPN to log into the game with success and then proceeded to log out -> At the first screen when I pressed the back icon/button to back out of FFxi and go into playonline it "Crashes". I thought I fixed the problem by eliminating any corrupted files so i tried to log back in without VPN and I am back at the same error code / downloading data screen.

Sounds like it could be an issue with your Internet Service Provider.

Sounds like it could be an issue with your Internet Service Provider.

Solution:
Moved modem/router closer to computer ~ Wired connection ~ Since then haven't received the endless void of ***Downloading Data*** / Error code: FFxi-3001. I believe that when on wireless the IP address lease is renewed daily ~ losing connection and resulting in resetting modem/router to regain connection and eliminate corrupted data. Thank you for your help and I will follow the Template next time ^^b.
