View Full Version : Are Killer Traits The Reason BST Cannot Charm Specific Families?

(Sorry, long)
Mentioned this before, but always found it weird how the door was open for BST to have Families beyond current ecosystems because we can charm Puks....

However, I always wondered if Killer Traits are the reason the devs never gave BST Hecteyes, Dragon or Undead pets like Hounds. Killer Traits have never been these game changers which players strive to max out. Bone Parties was the closest, but it was more due to blunt H2H damage destroying Skeletons.

No doubt Killer traits has uses. However, I don't think other jobs would be affected if BST had all Killer Effects. It will simply give BST the niche as the "Monster Killer." Other jobs individually could do that, but a BST is a all in one.

BST pet families need to be expanded imo. BST feels incomplete due to the capped pets, and how many are not available leaving BST to wonder "What if?" The Hippo is arguably the best pet; but it took years to get it.......It changed the BST tanking game (Abyssea Era notably). What if the Scorp, Mantid Hecteyes, Phuabo, Naul, etc are game changers? We will never know.....

The pet is just as important as the BST, maybe more.....

I didn’t know people used this still. But yeah it’s probably because bst is neglected by the player community.

Beastmaster is neglected by the developers first, and the players second. It's the only job that is forced to play with hard-coded pet stats, that are tied to each specific jug being used. As time goes on, Beastmaster gets progressively weaker due to out-dated jug pets with no ability to configure or adjust their stats in a meaningful way. (Summoners have summoning magic skill and Pupper Masters have attachments).

If we want a pet with natively better pdiff ratio, we have to wait for SE to create a jug pet with higher attack/Strength/etc stats. Our ability to adjust them in gear is woefully limited.

Hoping for a Beastmaster update, given that Sortie has been out for over a year. There are Mouse/Hecteyes/Slugs mobs in Sortie and it would be fun/interesting if they were charmable or usable in a meaningful way? I'll just take new jug pets at this rate.
