How many were actual players though?
I think people are mostly in limbo at the moment. Personally, I think we need more clarity from SE, based on a few of their latest posts.

Good, players are listening to not come to the server.

i don't know how you came to that conclusion when its much more reasonable to acknowledge that the 800 people that are gone from /sea all aren't subbed any longer.

They could still be subbed, but might just be taking a break and therefore are just not online at them moment.

It was fine. Queues for content were not as bad as people (from other servers) made it out to be.
Most of the accounts are in the ML zones (no comment).
Anyway, the point being, this is concerning to some people (Although, I have always questioned Asura's true player numbers).

It was fine. Queues for content were not as bad as people (from other servers) made it out to be.It was never just about queues for content. It was about the number of connected users being higher than the game was designed for. Need I remind you that Asura's character name database was filled which rendered players unable to create characters on it until that was addressed? That only happened on Asura. It also means disproportionately more bots and RMT activity.

all the usual bots and RMT are still going strong, it's actual players that are missing. but soon, they won't have anyone to sell to.

That is good.

What if we saw a 25% increase in returning players? Would the Asuran player base take them in with open arms and show them ropes in events like Sortie? Would they help them through the odyssey climb? Would Asurans settle for 8-9k segment farms for a few weeks until they get up to speed? How about charged amps? ...or will Asurans just sell them RP one fight at a time? (hey, it's better for business right?)
Folks can complain about the current state, but you also have to ask yourself, what did I do to cause it? ....Asura has been a really messed up place to play ever since people migrated to Asura for Delve clears when Item Level was introduced. (Back then, everyone had a pocket WHM and an Oatixur Monk). How is today any different from the exclusions?

i only posted asura because it's the server i play on and the population decline was very noticeable. can't speak for any other server but i imagine they are probably bleeding subs too.

I'm in a couple of GMT linkshells - they are very active and help all new players.
The most messed up thing is mercs. People use them, but don't really understand how self-destructive they are.
People buy everything from mercs, don't bother to engage in content and learn techniques, get in the habit of 'that's the norm' and end up bored standing in town and then quitting.
