View Full Version : Bug/feature tracker

Since these forums were opened to the public, a massive number of bugs have been reported, features have been suggested, adjustments/modifications have been discussed. Some of that wasn't as helpful as others, but overall a large number of significant improvements have been suggested by the community.

And I can understand perfectly if the mods don't have the time to even read through everything, or the time to report everything to the dev team, or the time to comment in the appropriate thread on the status/acknowledgment of the suggestion. However, some of them were too good to ignore, and it would be a shame to let them go unnoticed, especially if they didn't get an official response.

So my idea was to just compile a list of all currently reported bugs/fixes and keep them as up to date as possible. I hope that if we have everything in a central location we could keep it easier to access, like a reference thread. I don't know if mods have an internal bug tracker, but at least personally I've often wished I didn't have wade through 50 pages or to use the cumbersome search function to (maybe) find some threads I wanted to revisit.

This list is far from complete, but I wanna update it over time, hopefully expand it into a mostly complete reference of reported bugs/features. If you have anything to add, just post it in this thread and I will edit the opening post to reflect that. I will also ask that you refrain from suggestions involving matters of opinion, such as which jobs should be buffed in what way. Also please don't report general ideas that don't contain any specific suggestions about how to improve the issue at hand (like threads that just say "enmity is wrong, fix it"). Only if you feel it's a well thought out contribution to a specific problem, then feel free to include it in here. Also, I wanna source everything I quote here, but I can't find threads for some of these. If someone knows a link I missed, please let me know.

The "status" item here will show official recognition of the problem/solution in the form of a reply by a moderator/developer or official announcement. To any mods reading this, personally I would like to get a statement on all of these issues. Most of these issues are recognized by lots of people and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be the only one who would greatly appreciate any official comment on these, even if it's just "No". So if any of you have the time, a quick post in the respective thread would help a lot of people.

Party > Auto Group - This Function has Never Worked!

Losing items while paralyzed - This needs to be fixed.

Whm monsters casting Silena on themselfs after you silence them.

Right Front foot of Beetles is backwards (not a big Issue)

That's just a few off the top of my head there are a lot more I am sure.

[..] (seems to have been lost in the depths of the "Battle Content" forum)

That's exactly why I started this. So many good ideas lost in the depths of these forums, drowned in a bunch of random and/or useless threads. A shame for these to go unnoticed.

Also, it gives people the chance to revisit these threads and "Like!" them, since that feature was added. Maybe that will help the dev team realize the demand for adjustment.

Party > Auto Group - This Function has Never Worked!

It doesn't? I'm pretty sure I actually used it. It's a common misconception that this feature is auto-join an invite, which is false.

Whm monsters casting Silena on themselfs after you silence them.

They do? Never noticed.

Right Front foot of Beetles is backwards (not a big Issue)

I actually never noticed this myself before these forums. However, this is just an aesthetic issue and will (for now) not be included.

Good thread.

I still think SE devs are overthinking the no blinking issues. I do not believe that it would be hard to let the clients stop continuous visual update of gear while in battle. I have heard that a third party plugin that is less than 500kB big can implement such a functionality. Of course, I have never tried this plugin so I don't have first hand experience. It seems very unlikely that SE devs wouldn't be able to make a similar feature.

That one stops you from changing the model period. So even if you are swinging a sword, it will look like a staff if you locked it while having a staff equipped. It is hardly what I'd call a solution, but more of a work around.

I also wish SE gave more feedback regarding the bug reports. They should forward their decisions to us so we can follow the progress. Like if they set "Item Addition (Phoenix Down)" as "review August", we'd all know they planned to think about it in August. Or better yet, when they do "Won't fix" on a bug, we can be informed about it and stop wondering when it happens. (Though it would cause a few upset posts when they tell us they won't do stuff, but it is better than being kept out of the loop)

As was mentioned, that doesn't really work perfectly either. I still think an option the dev team overlooked was the possibility to still blink, but not lose the target while doing so. It's already possible to target blank targets (like PCs before their gear is loaded in crowded areas), so while the gear would have to be re-rendered, couldn't the target just have to be blank? I've asked this twice before but didn't really get a response. Maybe I'm making it out to be easier than it is, I don't know, but it seems plausible, and I've heard neither players nor mods respond to that.
