To me, this means a simple BCNM area.

However is that what the developers mean it as?

With the curation of new content like Voracious Resurgence, are there any plans on implementing new zones?
A: We're preparing a battle area with an all-new appearance.

To me this meant a simple area such as Ambuscade or similar.

However, they have used this term in the past and applied it to Abyssea areas.

Final Fantasy XI:
Battle Area Add-on Part II
Scars of Abyssea

If so, then Reisenjima is as much a battle area as Abyssea. They are identical in terms of the kind of zone and how it is played.

Anyone have any examples of them using this term in a way that would give an idea what they mean here or can a community rep ask them what they mean? Cause there was a lot of talk about an area called Valhalla and it would be cool if that is what is coming and it's a proper big area.

Something like Sortie. At best, maybe a Reisenjima sort of place.

Why do you need or want official clarification you won't receive on this? Just wait and see. That is all you can do.

I thought sortie itself was going to be the battle area they were referring to, but that's not an area with an "all new appearance."

Presumably, in this case, it refers to wherever the story's final battle will take place.
