Why is there no longer updates for world content why is everything instanced?
Abyssea was nice you can solo, you can group its your choice.

It was actually nice, coming from work not having so much time you can progress throguh abyssea get key items etc and log off,


Why don't we have something like that ever again that is relevant to 99+?

The answer to every question that begins with why, is because they don't have to.

You won't force them to show anything more than the bare minimum, so they won't. You won't quit. You won't unsub. They will give absolutely zero effort.

They will only react to pressure and you are willing to apply zero of it.

Just ignore that guy, his in-game time is spent stalking botters (or rather a botter for the most part) and seemingly not really playing the game.

They've been moving away from world content for a long time, largely because people fight over it. Despite the people who did enjoy it, by and large no one really likes things like gathering en-mass for a once very 3 days world spawn to watch cheaters win every pull and get all the loot (or win the pull and not get the drop). When you have instanced content, everyone has a chance to get stuff. It's the whole reason modern MMOs don't put nearly as much into the open world as they used to. Plus people hate "real" experiences like walking miles to dungeon entrances to participate in content so they eliminated stuff like that too. It's kind of sad in a way but it's also understandable.

While force pops addressed some of this, aside from putting multiple force pop locations sprinkled around the area, you're more limited in how many people can do the content at a time. Do you really want to wait in an in world physical line to do a popular new NM? Remember when adventuring fellows came out and there was an actual line that formed from the battlefield entrance to the ghelsba outpost zone?

There are so many reasons NOT to do world spawns. And I remind you that while I don't really agree with it, a lot of people blame abyssea (or the era in which it came out) for FFXI's decline.

I mean escha/reisen are still relevant content.

However the main reason is because it's easier when it's instanced, since you control the entire environment with instanced content.

XI is still actively being worked on, I still hope one day we will get 119 abyssea.

This, I hate when MMOs go the "all instanced" route. It's boring, dungeons and content should be in the open world, fit to support many different groups each with their own objectives. That is the classic MMO experienced, instancing should always be kept to the bare minimum, always.

That is the classic MMO experienced, instancing should always be kept to the bare minimum, always.Well the reason this happened is because of too much conflict from people over the same stuff. Despite how big Vana'diel is, lots of people need to do the same things and that just means that lines form in the real world, and the problem like that is people can cut in line or people steal stuff, etc. Instances create a consistent experience for every user that is less vulnerable to disruption.

That being said, there are other ways to do that. Phasing is often used in conjunction with this so that some content can remain in the world. Phasing just means you get your own monster or quest NPCs etc. and people who aren't doing it don't see them, and can spawn their own without any conflict.

This is why FFXI moved many HNMs to force pop- to reduce player conflict.

Simple, things change, and so do you, but you can enjoy the game or go enjoy something else.
