Will there ever be a fix for the controller bug?

This is a bug that is 19 years old, when you turn a controller on in the config and it's not plugged in (or it's a wireless one and it turns off) the game will stutter every few seconds.

If you turn it off in the settings or plug the controller in or turn it on it won't.

A relative was using my computer for a while and turned the controller on without telling me, I spent all day trying to fix an awful stutter in windows and then realized what the problem was the controller.

Have you tried posting about it over in In-Game Bugs? There never seems to be much there waiting to be looked at, so I think it's actually being monitored pretty closely. You'll have a whole big template to fill out, but that's the price we pay for technical support.

It's a well known issue and I'm pretty sure it's been reported in the proper channels before. But I guess it doesn't hurt to do it again.
