View Full Version : Rampant Botting and the ineffectiveness of the STF

Hide the thread a thousand times, I'll repost it a thousand more.

You're purposely ignoring bot reports and we all know it. Every single day. I'm going to find a bot, and report it to the STF. I'm going to screencap it and post it here, as proof that the STF while stating they take action, do in fact not take any action the majority of the time.

I will never understand why you insist on proving to nobody (given the level of activity here outside of your spam) something that everybody already knows about.

I don't care that you don't understand.

I don't care that you don't understand. A cop out response that just proves that you're really only doing it to be as annoying as possible. I'm sure you're hoping that you're the squeaky wheel that will get the grease, but it should be apparent to you now that you don't have that kind of power. Continuing to disregard the rules of the forum is only going to end badly for you, you really should quit while you're behind.

He knows it will not result in any bans. The only result he's having is annoying people and being counter productive to getting any support. I wonder what his desired end result will be if he gets only those bots annoying him get banned.

Every MMO has RMT, they will never be eradicated because the companies use them to balance the economy and gain money off their subs. Ever wonder why they are always there in any game? You're fighting a losing battle, probably no report you make will have any difference.

I'm fully aware. Going to do it anyway.

Keep seeing this posted on FFXIAH and here, as if the company intentionally allows RMT to roam free to "balance the economy." I think too many gil buyers just try to justify their actions and want to make believe they're not harming the game's economy and environment.

Because, they do. Square is a business and profits come first.

There is no downside to allowing bots to proliferate, no one will quit and hurt the sub numbers. Common sense. They ban a couple shoutbots every now and then to keep you happy and ignore the rest.

Which is funny because I know plenty of people who have been banned and have heard of even more. Yvone is just mad its not the specific people he wants banned being banned.

I'll do as I please, thanksI mean hey, if you really want to get banned, go on and keep doing things that are clearly spelled out as offenses in the rules. I won't judge you. I think it's weird, but you do you.

They've been banned many times now. I doubt they care about that anymore.

Also, is backseat moderating against the rules?

It's spam, and you should report alha. He only posts in an attempt to argue with people.

Site will be better off when he's gone. How ever you feel about anything else, you have to agree there.

Libel is an offense as well, you know. Your opinions and facts are not the same thing.

I'm not moderating anything, I'm just stating a probable reality. People don't have to agree there, because it's their choice and contrary to your own opinion, I've been plenty helpful to others and backed many good ideas and reasonable complaints.

I haven't done anything wrong so there is no basis for any report. Yvonne, on the other hand, is clearly breaking rules. It is, of course, their choice what to do next.

I'm honestly shocked that he hasn't been banned in over 8,000 posts. He is easily one of the most controversial on this tiny forum and tons have been banned for lesser offenses o.o

It's because no one bothers to report. Hit that yellow triangle and report.

It's because I don't actually do anything wrong. Post count is irrelevant. I'm not breaking any rules, so I don't get banned. Please do tell me what offenses I have committed, besides posting a lot? Disagreeing with someone is not an offense.

I did break a rule on the FFXIV forums like 9 years ago and did get banned (like a week after the fact). I have not since made that mistake again here.

It's because no one bothers to report. Hit that yellow triangle and report. I mean, again, I haven't done anything wrong, so reporting me will do nothing. You are breaking the rules, on the other hand, so.... And obviously you have reported me and I'm still here. I wonder why that is?

Besides spamming, you're libeling me and encouraging other users to file false reports. That seems a lot more serious to me than just replying to lots of threads, but hey, what do I know.

For you and for everyone else:

Neither posting a lot nor disagreeing with people is a volation of the rules of this forum. If you hate the posts I make and don't want to see them, by all means, add me to your block list. Not doing so and continuing to berate and unfairly target me because of a post count says that you'd rather harass me than take the easy and effective solution the forum software offers you. That's what it's there for. Conspiracies to get someone banned when they haven't done anything wrong isn't going to do anything. The reality is I'm being targeted purely for my post count.

Your entire post violates the first and second rules. (https://support.na.square-enix.com/rule.php?id=20&la=1&tag=forum)

No, it doesn't. Yvonne made this thread about me.

Which, if you want to play that game, means that he/she is once again breaking more rules.

And you're also doing so by replying.
(Probably why they don't usually enforce those two.)
Off topic posts have never gotten anyone banned. At most back in the day you might have gotten a friendly warning to stay on topic.

If you think people should be banned for making comments you feel are off topic, that would ban just about every remaining active user.

I don't feel that people should be banned for it, I was just answering your request. Also you may a case against the first rule, as that's how the conversation flowed; you have no case against the second.

And how did I know that you'd reply with "but you're breaking the rules too!"?

Probably because it's just a fact and it's hypocritical to steer a conversation further off course to accuse someone of breaking the rule about making off topic posts.

Ultimately those first two rules are etiquette rules, and if actioned at all, are usually met with something like "to be courteous to others, please don't do that." and nothing more. Technically correct really isn't the best kind of correct. Almost all of us are guilty of this, and therefore it really isn't a good justification to see someone get punished for something.

That might be the most bizzarely off topic ancedote I've ever seen.... but I"m okay with that.

Given the state of things around here. I would imagine anything short of an angsty stick in the eye is welcome.
