If a bot is doing no harm, what the hell does it matter? If I buy 40 stacks of "Mikhe's Note" to skill up my Guarding skill, then write a script to use them all instead of sitting down and pressing the ENTER key 960 times, what does that matter?

And I checked FFXIAH for auction history on Asura. Maiden's Virelai is sold by several different people, ditto for Raise 2. Also, who the hell buys a scroll of Virelai? Unless you're some completionist Bard who just wants to have a useless song for the sake of having it.

So I see a few possibilities here:

1) The players in question were investigated and banned a while ago, but you are not actually checking and you are still spamming the forums about them anyway.
2) These bots don't actually exist, and you are outright lying through your teeth to be annoying.
3) The reports were investigated, and the bots were left alone because they were harmless. They were found to be the equivalent of throwing a cup of water on somebody; you have technically committed the crime of simple assault, but you don't get arrested because it's such a petty crime.

I was in the Bay yesterday, and I wasn't botting. So it can't be every account.

I will say though, that the Bay has the most nonRMT nonMerc bots. Which is to say it has a concentration of the average multiboxers actually at the computer while the other accounts bot. Sent one a tell yesterday about one botting, and the said they said that they don't have five friends anymore, lol.

As I've told you before, I work in QA. We have a bug report form, its even accessible within the game. Bugs that are not properly filled out with information and coherently written sentences get ignored. Period. We won't even write down "someone found a bug," we just move on to the next bug in the list. SE is not special here, almost any studio will do this. Follow their rules or expect to be ignored. Wow i took a month off forums to see what would ensue, and this person is STILL trolling these issues? (it was only in mid 50's of pages last I looked, now in the 90's)
Even after I plain out mentioned that I talked to the person(s),
...was able to interact with them,
...was able to kill the targets they are "spam killing" when I asked if i could for a few times and they sat by and waited,
...and even when I told SE that it was a real person(s), and interacted, and submitted proof to them that they accepted as legitimate view chat logs and screen shots?

Seems it's a battle of wits now, and this forum poster (no names specifically...) will be ignored by SE, and cannot wait til they get banned from forums AGAIN, and then just makes another forum account to further annoy everyone. So glad I blocked them on here so no need to read their chagrined replies. Just don't like seeing yellow unread folder icon then seeing this is what's "new".

I guess they play their game by constantly focusing hate on others. They always have the option of "If you don't like the way the game is played and controlled by creators of the game, then make your own, play that to your own heart's content and rules, and stop trying to make someone else believe YOUR opinions MUST be right."

Yes it should, but the moderator in charge of it has given up. Clearly, you've never been to a court of law, where generally you have to prove that someone did something, not the other way around. It's not reasonable to expect them to put more effort into investigating your reports than you invest in making them.

And given we've had someone post here with an experience that contradicts (some of) your reports, it becomes even less surprising that they're not being acted on than it ordinarily would be.

As you said, "albeit possibly using 3rd party tools", I'd say they are no longer legitimate players at that point, and them being there to respond really means nothing else than that they were around there at the time to look and respond (or/and were alerted to the /tell to respond to it).

Of course they will be monitoring the thing at some points in time, but all the actions could still all be automated, no matter what a GM says. The game would need to use an intrusive anti-cheat method to see what you are running to detect things, and I am very happy it does not right now. Not because I run anything funky myself, but that nonsense is basically what rootkits and malware and such are, and I don't need them in my system (they also don't play well with Wine due to the intrusive reasons I mentioned, and I use that to play the game on Linux).

I think I commented here before, that this definitely might not be the best way to do things, and not how I'd do it, but I do like it that someone is highlighting this problem which is very real.

Funny(?) enough, I've thought of writing a script to report certain long-lived bots automatically, because I've been reporting them for years manually... but I still want to do at least minimal verification and such on them. I did see some bots disappear eventually, but I imagine they just got what they wanted, and/or moved elsewhere.

Aside from the fact that you can not and will not prove that all 161 people in the zone were using tools. Someone in a party doing it doesn't mean everyone in the party is. I'm sure the vast majority of people I've ever partied with in the last decade are at a minimum just using Windower. Some people are using these tools for mere accessibility due to hearing and vision problems, so I generally won't report anyone for doing so unless I can show that they are RMT or that their game clients were unattended, and not just ordinary players trying to fix problems that SE won't fix.

Making baseless accusations or broad generalizations is not effective and discredits any legitimate reports you may make, regardless of official actions on the matter.

So yeah, prove it or it didn't happen to you, too. You can't just go /sea Area and say "every character in this list is a botter."

It might shock you to learn that yes, while many people use windower (and aren't even ashamed to admit it), many others don't. There are far more "legitimate" players out there than you think, and just because they happen to be in a particular zone doesn't make them automatically cheaters ore botters, even though there are probably at least some people automating the process.

But I for one don't really blame them because the EP grind is absolutely insane, and it shouldn't have been designed with only the 0.1% of players that can do it the most efficient. I estimate I might reach MR50 in a few years unless something is done to make it a little easier for ordinary people who can't play 6 accounts all day long.

If this is meant for me.... I'm not trying to be rude, nor deliberately controversial. Sometimes it may end up happening that way, but I'm really just passionate and like talking about the game. I have had a few posts moderated over the years, and I did get banned from the FFXIV forums like in the first months ARR came out (for using the R word to describe an idea, which I acknowledge wasn't a great choice). I've tried numerous times to get amnesty over the years but any time you try to appeal a forum ban they just look at the original case and go "yep they deserved it," without any consideration of the passage of time, or even behavior over here (both forums are handled by the same moderators, officially at least). So when SE says forever they mean forever.

In my defense though: it was and still is incredibly easy to get banned from the XIV forum, anything less than a shining beacon of light and you're probably gone after a couple warnings. In my case, the post in question was actually weeks old and buried when I got banned for it, I can only summise that it either took them that long to "investigate," or that someone found the post and reported it for language long after that thread was already dead (which, in my opinion, is a bit petty). Even if you're not banned on a violation, your record seems to stay with you forever and they will just automatically ban you after so many offenses, even if there is a lot of time between them.

Meanwhile, here we have Uriah, who has had other accounts banned and continues to spam these pointless report screenshots and it seems like the mods have decided to juist let him do his thing in this otherwise rarely used part of the forum and as long as he keeps it here they will leave it alone. I suspect they just don't want to play whack a mole since he will likely come back in a fit of rage on another account if they ban him again.

I was in Ranperre's Tomb on Saturday (Jan 7th) for about 4+ hours (off and on, but sometimes AFK while getting drink/food or other bodily needed functions) playing on my mule characters leveling them up peacefully from level 20 - 30+ from 9pm EST to nearly 1AM EST. I found it weirdly peaceful, relaxing, nostalgic, and it's what I wanted to do with my payment time and characters. I was solo (with trusts and adventuring fellow from signal pearl), and had fun. Oh, I DID get on my main character, traveled down to Vrtra pop area, and hung out for a bit (think about 40 minutes?) to see if it would pop, but alas it did not.
Then got my butt kicked from one of the new skeletons there as I left. Now THAT was fun to try too lol.

To be fair, they just came and ninja deleted 8 posts. That's why I put the # on my posts. I can see when and where they removed posts. You can see they deleted 8 between my #982 and #1001. #1001 is now 993

That set it back a whole page. Within the last hour or so.

You blocked posters need to stop being naughty. I can't see you anyway so just stop.You can if you choose to. It's hilarious that you're so paranoid about just keeping track of the exact number of posts. And further so that you accuse others of wanting attention when the sole purpose of this ____ thread is attention.
The only person being naughty here is you. I will continue to report any posting of STF reports falsely accusing literally everyone of being a bot, as they don't deserve this kind of harassment by you whether SE looks at the reports at all or not.
